Hi Bev,
I talked with my friend and he asked what type of shot your dog receives? They haven't tried that yet with their corgi and are interested in asking their vet about it.

Your welcome Cathi. They told us at the Vet school that they rarely see corgis with a lot of allergies so I guess we just got lucky!

Hi Bev,
Thanks for your info; like you,my friend has already done the allergy testing with his dog. I'm not sure if they do the shots but will pass along the info to him. I suggested he join mycorgi.com since its been so helpful with information in many different areas and its just fun.
He loves his dog and is just stumped with this. Glad to hear your Sparty is doing well with this treatment plan.
Thanks again,
Cathi

Cathi, My corgi, Sparty, is allergic to dust mites as well as a multitude of other things! We live by Michigan State Univ. and took him to their vet school for allergy testing. (yep, the do it just like with people. Shaved his side and did the pin prick test). We have been giving him shots once a month for years and it really helps. Twice a year he needs a little help with prednisone but otherwise he does great. The initial test was about $500 and the serum is about $200 a year.

Corgi allergic to dust mites???
I have a friend with a male corgi that has a terrible allergy to dust mites. He's on prednisone regularly and still has a serious problem annually with allergies.
My friend is considering surrending his dog to a corgi rescue group due to the health issues.
Does anyone have any experience with a corgi and dust mite allergies?

Puppy Potty Training Help:
Hi all! Okay, so this is not an inquiry simply about how to get Darwin to go outside, it's more about how to get him adjusted to just going out say 5 times a day vs. 35. Over the past two weeks he has done great. Almost every day other day is a 100% outside potty day (the days in between result in one pee on the floor). Right now I am a student, so I am at home most of the day, and then my partner comes home when I go off to school. On Fridays we are both gone. Monday-Thursday, I find that I am taking him out almost every half hour on his request, and if I don't he will go on the floor. The odd thing is that on Friday, when he is his crate for 6 hours straight, no accidents. How do I get him to go, perhaps 4 times a day vs. every commercial break? (additionally, I don't know if this matters, but he goes on at least two walks a day, and we live on the third floor of our condo with no elevators- so he walks down- with some reluctance- and up the stairs). Any thoughts?

Anyone have a Corgi with DM? If so, any helpful thoughts, feeling, etc... that they might share?? As my oldest has DM and I'm looking for anything that might help in his life! Besides the normal doctor medicine & thoughts; we are also about to try accupuntre and just did a raeki healing session!

Kaisdy: At 8 weeks, Freya weighed 8 pounds. I'm sure right now she's closer to 10 to 12 pounds. 4 pounds at 9 weeks isn't the average, but your pup could have small parents too.

When I first got my pup, I was feeding her 1/4 cups 3 times a day. I didn't realize how lean she was until I looked at her and since have upped her food 1/2 cup 3 times a day.

Sometimes I notice that Finnigan's breath smells fishy. I've smelled bad dog breath but his is a distinctly fishy smell. Anyone else ever encounter this?

Gibson was 12lbs around that age so yours is just a bit smaller. Do you know if his parents were small?
