Because of the casting. The series is consciously pan-Asian (Inuit, Buddhist etc. inspired). If you look at the characters, and the settings, they are pretty obviously non-caucasian. Then they cast all white actors. When people objected they cast an Asian actor as the villian (so all the heroes are caucasian and the villan is not.) I only know all of this because my daughter wanted to be Katara for Halloween and I was looking for images to use asa guide for a costume and I ran into the whole controversy. www.racebending.com is the clearinghouse for the boycott if you want to go there and get much more in depth info on the rationale....

Elizabeth, neither of my daughters have seen it, but all their friends say it is pretty bad. Why a boycott?

What is this crowd's position on the new Airbender movie? The human daughter LOVES airbender but I've heard I should boycott.....

Hello everybody....we named the fur daughters for Harry Potter characters and the human baby Kira after a Star Trek character. Qualifies us, right?

Thanks everyone on the comments on Ashton's picture. I do want to clarify that the Jet in the pic is our friend Charlie. My husband John took the picture while I stood behind him and got Ashton's attention with a treat. Charlie and Ashton, or should I say Jet and Ein, were super popular with everyone who happened by.

One thing we found quite funny was while at the bottom of the escalators we could hear people screaming "Corgi!!!" or "Ein!!!" from three floors up! LOL
