Fandom is a term used to refer to a subculture composed of fans characterized by a feeling of sympathy and camaraderie with others who share a common interest... Members of a fandom associate with one another, often attending fan conventions (such as science fiction conventions), and publishing and exchanging fanzines... The term is sometimes associated with anime/manga; serious fans of this subject are also called otaku. A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream (Geek).

This past Easter weekend was Sakura-con in Seattle, Washington. We were passing through on the way to Vancouver, BC for a family function but we did manage to get some pictures. Here is our favorite:

Needless to say Ashton's "Ein" costume was a major hit with all the con goers. He did amazingly well in the crowds of cosplayers and congoers. He soaked up all the attention in true corgi form.

I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt but I can't see him as Peter Parker. I am unsure about their choice of directer as well.

Sam, I know the scene you mean. I personally loved that scene. It made me laugh! There was a similar scene in the first film where you see how awkward and clumsy Peter is with a song in the background that I can't think of at the moment. Both scenes were funny to me and whether or not that's how they were intended, I still enjoyed them.

I think the 3rd movie wasn't as good because they tried to pack too much into one film, with 3 villains and Gwen Stacey. You were forced to take in so much in such a short amount of time that you never really got to know and sympathize with the characters. I was looking forward to 4 being better but now I see that won't happen. I'll see it, I just don't have much faith.

Interesting! I liked 500 days of Summer...but Joseph Gordon-Levitt will always be that kid from Third Rock from the Sun to me :)

I have mixed feeling of Sam Raimi, I didn't like Spiderman 3 because of the Emo Toby scene. I like his work in Spy Games and Sparticus: Blood and Sand. I really hope he doesn't mess up Warcraft, if he's sacrificing Spiderman 4 for it, it better be good.

It looks like Spiderman 4's director is going to be Marc Webb for now, his biggest hit was 500 days of summer, considering his indie past, I'm surprised Sony execs are gonna let him direct a multimillion franchise.

If Marc Webb does hang on to the project, then most likely Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 days of summer) will play Peter Parker.

Has anyone heard about what's going on with the Spiderman 4 movie? Sam Raimi is out due to "creative differences" and of course the cast sided with him and dropped out as well.

"Sony Pictures announced in January 2010 that plans for Spider-Man 4 had been cancelled due to Raimi's withdrawal from the project. Raimi reportedly ended his participation due to doubt that he could meet the planned May 2011 release date while upholding the film creatively.

Simultaneous with the cancellation of Spider-Man 4, Sony announced that the franchise would be rebooted with a new director and new cast. The reboot film is scheduled to be released in summer 2012 and will focus on Peter Parker developing his abilities in high school. Sony also confirmed that James Vanderbilt will write the script for the new film and Marc Webb will direct the next Spider-Man film."

They were going to move ahead with it anyway and re-cast the parts but apparently thought better of it and decided to do a reboot instead. It's way too early for something like this. I was looking forward to the film just as much as the next person but now they're just grasping at straws and I really think the film is going to be a disappointment. I was not a Tobey Maguire fan when the first movie came out but he's grown on me and after 3 films, he is Peter Parker, you can't just replace all the main characters! Possible Peter Parkers listed so far are Zac Efron, Logan Lerman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

My geek streak is that I dabble in EQ2. The dogs lay under the desk when I play :)

I saw it last week and it was awesome! It was super long but that was fine with me. That way they didn't have to cut a lot of the "wild life and fauna" scenes in order to keep a story line. Honestly, I did not really care about the story line i just like to see alternative realities.
