30 year old photo - Rookie, w. baby Lindsay

Rookie loved Lindsay and was always there protecting her. I can't imagine ever worrying about how Rookie would react to the birth of Lindsay, our first baby. I also can't imagine keeping them apart. Prior to our babies, Rookie was always with me. No matter how late I'd be up working, he'd be right there with his regal head on my foot. He was incensed when we came home with a new Corgi, Maggie. Maggie was 14 wks. and Rookie was 6 mo. He tried every which way to keep from entering a room. When she persevered, he pushed her into our pool. Eventually they became inseparable best friends. But, Maggie never was devoted to the babies like Rookie. Maybe Rookie just kept them to himself.

How do I ever get over losing my best friend? I had to make the awful decision to send her over The Bridge on Oct 10 2011. Still to this day I cry over losing her. I do have a new puppy coming Feb…Continue

Thanks for sharing that Rhonda, very well done. You made me miss Barney and I never got to meet him! Keep writing, it is good for the soul to write things down, even if you have to pause so you can see the computer screen through the tears. Hugs to you and Andy

A Tribute to Barney - April 29, 1999 - May 30, 2011

A little bundle of joy

Brought home so long ago

We fell for him right from the start

The love was real, we know

At first it seemed he was ours to keep

So safe and sound…but, no

For looking back we realize

He came to help us grow

To teach of love unconditional

And friendship with no end

To make you feel a special way

He had broken hearts to mend

Always making welcome

Whoever would drop by

And help you through the sad times

With comfort when you cried

It’s true that living in our hearts

Even when they’re gone

Will keep alive the memories

That helps us to go on

But still we shed so many tears

The pain is real and deep

We think of all that we have lost

And dream of him in sleep

But now he runs and plays all day

Corki and Christi at his heel

The aches and pains will be no more

Only good things will he feel

And now he watches over us

To see that we’re okay

And we will keep on missing him

Until we meet again one day

We miss you, Barney

I haven't posted in awhile but I wanted to say to all my Corgi friends that you are ALWAYS in my heart ! In 20 days it will be one year my sweet Kazi left us :(. I still cry often and miss him horribly. On a happy note my new baby Kiya will be one year old on April 8th 2011.

My heart breaks for all those who knew and loved the wee Corgi, Little Marker Boy.  So glad you have the video that captures the joy he had in life and shared with his human family.   Wasn't he a lucky little fellow to be so loved....

I'm so sorry. He was so young. I hope he didn't suffer. But, it looks like his short life was a very happy one, and I hope that brings comfort.

Mauser Marksman aka Little Marker Boy at birth was only 4 oz. and having some troubles surviving and rather then risk his survival for life over an ideal standard we decided to leave his tail undocked and leave his dewclaws. Here he is with his new owner making a visit so he could play with his litter mates that I kept for myself at 4 months old. This visit was Dec. 3, 2010 on our first snow storm and glad the visit was made for Mauser became ill before Christmas suffering Renal Failure and was helped across Rainbow Bridge on Dec. 28, 2010. Autopsy report states his Renal Failure was not the cause from developmental or congenital issues but of toxins and/or trauma due to toxins to the organs. RIP Little Buddy dy

ou will never ever forget the memory of a lost doggie i don't care who you are. They are special and more honest than people usually are. Be thankful for the memories and the love that you got from him. For some reason Joey has been very  very loving today, guess he knows that it is Christmas
