We have been to the Bay Area Park and it is very shady.  It's a decent sized small dog area too.  I am down with that park and 9am.

I have been so busy and I had a last minute trip the Rio Grande Valley the weekend we had planned last time. I have not seen the bay area dog park, but I will vote for any place that has a pond for the small dogs. a water hole for the corgs in this heat is a must, time 9:00 for me, and date of the 25th is also great. Another note, I will be taking my two crogs to the dog park off westpark and 610/59 area this Saturday from 9 - until they get tired. Looking forward to the 25th.

Thanks again Kara for scouting! Looks like it's 3 votes for Bay Area & 1 for Sugar Land. Put in your vote and I'll send out a group message later in the week. Does 9:00 work for everyone or would you guys prefer 8:30? Again, I am not a dictator, we will conform to what the majority votes on :)

Thank you, Kara! I work at Clear Lake Hospital and I was going to volunteer to go check it out after work one day.  You saved me a trip.

We just got back from the Bay Area dog park and it has tons of trees for shade. We also met two corgis there and encouraged their owners to join MyCorgi.com so they could meet up with us in 2 weeks. There was no pond but all the nice shade will make up for it. I also read on a local dog site that there are some nearby eateries that are dog friendly if you eat on the patio. Here is the link: http://www.bark9.com/?Eateries If you go to one I would definitely call first. I vote for Bay Area too!

We're definitely up for the Pasadena dog park, it would give those from the opposite side a town to go to one closer to home.  My goal has always been to rotate parks!

I just posted some highlights from the 5-28 meetup in the discussion above titled "Meetup pictures".  If you want to see more there is a link to my flikr photostream at the bottom of the post :)

The dog park on Bay Area Blvd. in Pasadena may be what we want.  The Houston Area Dog park site says it has "lots of shade"  I have been to that park years ago before they put in a dog park and it does have lots of trees.

Ok, hubby & I scouted the Sugar Land park.  We went when it first opened & were a little disappointed because Houston has some pretty awesome parks.  We thought we would check it out since we haven't been back.  There have been improvements but there is still a pretty big lack of shade & there is no pond in the small dog park.  In the summer months shade is pretty important to us because we've found if we bring our lawn chairs & sit in the shade other owners will gravitate toward that area & we can sit & relax while the dogs play.  I would love to hear suggestions on parks with big shade trees (it's disappointing that most were clear cut so there aren't large trees).  I know Congressman Bill Archer has big shade trees but it might be too far for some.  We are open to other ares.  Does anyone know if the Woodlands parks have good shade?
