My average birth weight is about 13 oz. Marg(Russ' dam) was known to throw puppies with noses starting to pigment and upwards of 16 oz. They would all mature to a nice well within standard size. Considering this is a line breeding on a bitch out of our very first litter, hoping that we moderate the adult size.

This could be interesting. She's still eating and waddling around. I don't take temps any more as I have had a couple bitches that never dropped more then 1/2 degree. But with the xrays, showing leg bones and such, that means 24-48 hours.

That should be heads and spines, not heads and skulls-ugh.

Eghads! Now I need you to take into consideration that Abbey is a big girl-not over height by breed standard but is a very svelt girl of 40 lbs or so when in regular weight. Loads of bone and muscle. She weighed 58.5 lbs at Doc's.

Xrays-gulp-8 confirmed as well defined heads and skulls. BUT, they are all stacked on top each other making it hard to tell a few apart. Plus she's very "full" in the center of her xray and it's not clear so Doc can't tell how many in that area. Doc is saying there is more then likely 2-3 more under the full intestines and milk sacs(she's already bagged down and milking).

Head to pelvis measurements look very good for whelping and unless we get a stuck pup, should be able to avoid a c-section. And several of the pups are very well defined-see legs etc, so whelp should be within the next 24-48 hours.

Actually rePete's been available from the get go. Never intended on keeping her but for some reason she just stayed. She's got tons of great qualities, isn't perfect so has some things that a proper breeding could fix in the next generation. So if the right person would come along with the right offer, she might leave.

Everytime she gets in trouble, Alec tells me--you know it could be living in MI now! I did have an offer to send her up north but it just didn't work out like I wanted it to.

Good news is that she's toally blown her coat and is starting to get some undercoat back!!! Still looks naked but not as bad. Hum, maybe the swimming pool, creek runs and mud baths are the trick to growing coat?
