I have a blue "monster" and totally agree, I only blow a wet coat, never a dry one. There's been tons of discusion around the cardi ring about coats and what dryer/blower does to them. Now remember even if your blower doesn't have a heating element, after a period of time, the air will start warming up due to the motor heating up.

My opinion, as long as you can run your hand backwards across a coat and it returns to laying flat in the correct direction, then you have used the blower correctly. At any point that the coat doesn't lay flat, then it's opened up and isn't truely weather resistant.

That's why you'll see some judges lift up the coat or run their hand over it a weird direction.

I love my dryer and used correctly with the right combo of other gadgets can make a coat look great. I've let them air dry before and it was a HUGE mistake. The regular forced air does not have a heating element in it and while it has a tad of warmth to it that blows off the motor the heat really isn't like that of a blow dryer. It is just enough to take the chill off. The forced air is really nice for regular grooming and think the dogs like it as a massage and have been able to identify the start of potential skin disorders early since it is the only thing that will part the hair that well on a thickly coated dog. Don't know what I'd do without my orange monster.

ya know , when mine is in some sort of coat.. I dont see the point in the blower/dryer, in a pinch to dry the coat after touch up but when out of coat.. a little air and heat helps volumize... but too much heat /air you do risk opening up the coat... I always let them air dry after bathing , or swimming ,on off show weeks. but then I hate blow dryer on my own hair too, only use to shape the front when dressing up:).
CIndy, I hate the way they feel on my hands too but they work great so try to ignore I need some good ole fashion lanolin on my dry rough hands:((
oh and forgot my new favorite thing!! Listerine and water spray bottle!!!! Awsome!!

I love microfiber towels but my hands don't. They feel weird on dry rough hands and that's one of my pet peeves.

It could but that's another discussion about using a dryer/blower on a coat--are you adding volume or opening up the coat?? Whole 'nother ball of wax there!

Does a forced air machine count?

Cindy
have to have tack
Yup butter comb.. although I almost never use the broad side
PP volumizer ( or new trick\ aussie gel volumizer- no residue dries nice, plumps up nice, doesnt make coat soft- in a pinch when you live where noone has PP!
waterless shampoo and microfibre towel

Okay, new topic. What's everyone's must have grooming products??? Kind of like the question-if you could only take 3 things to an island, what would they be?

Me, hummm, hard one:
Butter comb-I have lost many, have many more in the tack box. In a pinch a nice comb with narrow and wide teeth.
Spray bottle with IOD repair
Spray bottle with Plush Puppy Volumizer
Bottle of CC waterless shampoo and thick hand towel

So that's more then three.

Other must haves in the tack box:
Good pin brush-short pins
Scissors-double tooth thinners and sharp short bladed sheers
Mars Coat King #30
Dremel(corded) with 60 grit drum
chalk block
battery powered fan

And you should see what else I carry in the box-I seriously can groom just about any breed, even have bands so can do topknots in poodles :)

The running joke with Frank is that he has fulfilled his contract obligations by getting his championship. He and Alec were in "contract negoitations" for a long time and that currently none of this foo foo show stuff is in the fine print and he's on strike. Alec's trying to get him back to the bargining table.
