Cindy- I ( and the herd) are completely jealous!! And wish we could attend your corgi frap!! Sounds like such fun!!!!! Maybe next year we will be in a better position to travel farther:(((( We are trying to find and gather corgi owner this fall for a corgi halloween masquerade party at our dogpark.. ( after some comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting of the grounds, largely natural grounds of trees and grasses-- but we believe the effort to cleanse and disinfect spring and fall is important , but since we arent getting much approval for this idea, we few have taken on the task ourselves, with lots of machine raking to turn loose soil over, application of a mild solution of kennel disinfectant, and rainfall( or sprinklers) as we have to close the park for a few days to accomplish this , it hasnt been a popular feat:(
The city will not bear the expense or pay crew to do , so we do ourselves..
finally we apply garden lime , which sweetens the soil and lessens the chance that undesired devils will grow. so... I digress.. have a ball at your frap! Wish we could be there!!

We usually aim for the 4th weekend of July for our get-together. Unfortunately, we built the house only 6 yrs ago so the trees are not as big as they should be. Ezups are the main shade source. The kids tend to share the pools with the dogs if it's really hot or I kick them out of the yard and down to the creek to play.

Wish we could have planned it so we could come up to the match, but saving gas funds for a couple shows in August.

sounds like fun, but will be at the UCCA match in janesville, wi. it is the 3rd annual match and we are shooting at being reconized by UKC. i know ther are people lurking in the area, so hoping to see you and meet the ones i haven't met yet. hopefully won't be to hot, but bring lots of water and shade for your 4-legged. i'm heading down to the motel 6 (haven't stayed in one of these for a long time). will be checking in on friday, july 23. so, if anyone want's to stop in, call motel 6 and ask for vicky hyde's room. i'm hoping to get down there around 3:00 p.m., but, as i know myself so well, it might be later or i could shock myself and show up earlier. after 3 will be the safest. i think ther is a cracker barrel on the same road as the hotel, so i will be there sometime. i love cracker barrel. see you there. and, cindy and group, you all have fun at your get-to-gether and stay cool. keep those puppies in the shade or how about a kids pool for the legged ones? can't wait to hear how it goes. vicky and the boys

well, confrats to all . sounds like you had quite an adventure. i'm beginning to think it rained everywhere i wasn't. had a couple of drops in illiois while i was there. the day i got home, approx. 3 hrs, in fact, we got like 1" of rain in less than an hour. so, i guess that was good timing on getting home. joker came home with me. jack was a little put out at first, because he is so use to being the only one for all the attention. now, they are working together. first 2 days, they got me up at 6 a.m., then 7 a.m. now 8 a.m. joker flies up o the bed and does a full-body slam on me, while jack sits at the side of the bed and makes weird cori noises. they also have found that they can play indy 500, running from living room-kitchen and back. jack is not use to all this. i figure he will lose some weight now. he seems to have that little corgi problem with weight.and it doesn't help that i can't exercise him properly. they tear around the back yard. joker had a little "leaky" problem at first, but as of right now, nothing has "leaked" from him today. he also has figured out how to tell me that he needs to go out. in my picture, thanks to sandy figuring out how to put it up, jacks on the left, joker in the middle and jinx is on the right. jinx lives in illinois just down the road from sandy. well, all take care.

OMG Vicky pups are sooooooo cute and the boys are very handsome( guess they wouldnt like being called "cute" )
Cindy, and the "MS" congrats!! Sounds like she cleaned up at the fair this year!!! Such great memories at her age she will have to look back on when she is our age:))) My fondest memories are of 4-h and the fairs with my apaloosa colt I raised and showed when I was her age , and until about 16-17! Still have all the ancient photos.. Funny Cindy, thinking about that and a comment you made about heritage breeds, and my inexplicable attraction to the olders liniage in the Pems, and I thought about my first colt.. He went directly back to an app named "handprints" and he was foundation app stud with a stupidly low reg number.. Funny how the affinities we have to things seem to be part of us before we are even concious of it..
I looked back to find the next app I bought was a Rocket Bars colt, another old line and he was also stunning.. HMM I think your on to something with these heritage kind of breeds thing:-)))
I have played with some heritage strains of roses in my garden and they came lovely back east and died when I moved to MN!! well go figure:)
OK over and out for the "herd" back to grooming day!

Well, a very good weekend, sort of. After spending the last 6 days at county fair, we are, sort of, finally done.

Like the sort of part? Rain yesterday caused the horse show to be postponed today, 6-8" of water standing in the arena. And it's raining again today.

Anyway, our 4-H dog show, to which I am the superintendent and trainer for, had about 30 kids and dogs. Showmanship, obedience and agility. Great turn out and wondeful crowd.

My youngest, Meredith aka The Ms, who is a junior in 4-H, won Best In Show! She was showing our little b/w cardigan bitch, Merlot. She beat out the winner in the senior division from the last two years.

Then she showed our lovely lug, Moose, in obedience and got 2nd in novice. He tends to be a ham and well, they had a few issues when he was paying attention to the crowd and batting his eyes and wagging his tail at the kids ringside. He tends to forget he's in the ring to work. Then they went on to a 2nd place in agility, but The Ms said she had a few handling errors that slowed them down.

On a non-corgi note, her ducks, Penciled Indian Runners, took Best Pair in Show at the poultry show and Best of Breed, Best Light Duck. Our county has the largest poultry show in Iowa with almost 400 entries!

I need a vacation from my vacation! Just waiting to see when the horse show will be as The Ms has a clydesdale and paint to show in that.
