Sure do remember you! We had to get back to meet up with someone at home, otherwise we would have stayed longer. You know, I didn't think I would like a red in the house considering we have all shades of brindles. But he really grows on you. He looks even better now with another year under his belt. More and more like his daddy-Ch Camelot's Midnite Masquerade. Now if I can just get him to like showing as much as his dad :)

i really liked your boy. if i remember right, you all were there on the last day(?) i was the one sitting ring-side in the walker.the three red/white male pemmies were as follows, jack and his 2 boys, joker and jinx. if you let me know which day, i can let you know which one was in group with you. joker finished his grand the first day at the first show and jinx finished his grand the second day, second show. jack went breed over his boy and went group 2 at the first show the second day. you guys left so fast. i had wanted to come over and see your cardi and meet you all, but you left so soon. your son did a wonderful job showing him. i can see a good future in handling for him. i am not surprised frankie finished so quickly. he is beautiful. i will keep checking to see when your judges are listed.

Hee hee, yeap that actually would have been us at the show with the lone cardigan! Frankie was my son's litter pick-had to do with keeping a red dog this time around. He had some big wins in AKC - taking some supported entry and sweeps wins. Finished easily by mid summer at just a little over a year old and has a couple BOB and nice BOS wins under his belt. But like his mother, not a fan of the shows. We laugh now that he has a rock solid contract and any foot in the ring is in direct violation of his contract and he goes on strike. He's headed to the rally ring sometime this fall like it or not.
Keep checking www.onofrio.com for updates on the show-judging panel should be up. I'm sorry, off the top of my head, I can't remember who we have judging what this year.

sounds like the year is going really nice for you. i know what you mean by no competion. i think i have seen only one cardi at the UKC's that i have attended. which show were you at last fall? i think it was at the davenport show that i saw the cardi. nice dog. i think it was a red/white youngster. i was talked into going UKC by 2 american eskimo friends of mine. i was at a point of being disgruntled with AKC judges, although we hung in there. it's not always easy to get your UKC titles like you said because of lack of competion. i guess what i really like about the UKC, is the more relaxed atmosphere. it was nice not having to wear pantyhose to show. they have their rules and regulations. one of the first judges i showed under at UKC, dumped jack and told me he was too big to be able to do what he was bred for. and, even though i see it a little bit, the politics aren't as strong in UKC as they are in AKC. well, as long as my dog is enjoying going to and enjoys showing, we will continue to do both. i am thinking about your cluster weekend over labor day. sounds like fun. can't wait to see who the judges are. keep me informed please. have a great day.

It's actually been a nice quiet year in showing. We finished 3 littermates last year, had a litter of cardis, traveled all over and specialed another dog. This year we've been doing more client dogs. My son all breed handles and has a viszla and weim that come with us on occasion, a couple of french bulldogs, couple other cardigans and is assisting a big collie breeder/handler now. I just sit ring side holding dogs, or taking in an extra for winners. Last year it was chaos, luckily my youngest daugther came to most of the shows too and helped take dogs in and out a lot.
We did one UKC show last fall. I will be honest, it was a small show and well, I just can't justify getting points just for basically showing up. Granted our boy only needs one more competition win to finish his UKC CH, but it seems like a cheap title. If I could find a show with decent competition and more cardigans showing, I could justify it more.
It's like APRI shows--take a serious look at those organizations-there is no judging guidelines, no breed standards and no show rules. How can you claim winning when there are nothing to compare a dog to other then a vet's opinion( and yes most of their judges are vets).
AKC is no way perfect, but at least you have rules, regulations and standards to use a baseline and you have to have competition to get points.

Hello everyone! Glad to find this group. I live in NW Wisconsin near Duluth MN. I'm not showing dogs currently but hope to again someday. Our pem is a 5 year old spayed female & we adore her.

weell, if you would be interested in a boy to show, let me know. when i go down to sandy's at the end of the month, i will send you some pic's of him. i'll just pop over to your site. he's nice.i really like him and he is show trained. it's just been with my health this past 11/2 years, not much as far as AKC has happened. he has his first point, so that ice is broken. i don't know if you do UKC, but he has his UKC Grand Championship and also hus Int/Nat. puppy Championship with a Best in Show Bred-By Puppy. First time showing in UKC, he went Best Puppy In Show. he also has gone Group1 a few times and a Reserve Best-In-Show. he seems to be in one of the four places in group when he goes breed. he also has manners. his dad doesn't, but i love him anyway.

Not much in Amana that takes dogs, but up in Cedar Rapids, only a 15-20 min drive there's a lot just off the the interstate(I380). Motel 6 and such. Near the Eastern Iowa Airport there 's a few also. Check the premium list once it's up on Onofrio. Should be in the next few weeks--I still haven't approved it all yet. There's a list of hotels but always call and ask about their pet policy.

4th of July-not sure where we will be going. Might just hang out at home.
July is the Iowa Corgi Frap at our house, Kennel Club BBQ, County Fair(my youngest shows dogs, horses and poultry) and on other big shindig at our acerage. But August we are gone every weekend-gotta save up for that. At least I only have one girl to show right now-last year I had a dog, two bitches and special plus obedience and rally entries.

that's too bad. i'm sure we will catch up with each other somewhere. will look up your shows for labor day weekend. do you know where oneida, ill. is? quad-cities area? sandy, joker's breeder and friend, lives there. that's where i will be at from june 24-july 5th. i'll see if she would be interested in your show that weekend. sandy basically lives within a 3 hour drive of many shows, AKC and UKC. i best find someone that looks good in a tight outfit, because we don't put tight on this old body. know anyone that is going that might be interested in maybe handling my boy? i can always ask teresa kannard to show him. she is going to be there. can you recommend any nice, but not real costy hotels/motels in the amana area? take care.
