never even heard of him. in my opinion, i don't care what time of the day it is a judge should be decent with all the dogs, especially young ones. those impressions are so important. i cringe when i see a heavy handed judge. it pays to buy a catalog and make your remarks in there after the judges name. great future references. if your not sure, i wouldn't enter under jim again. why chance scaring your youngster and possibly screwing her up for life. houston clark is a great judge to show a youngster under and he is not afraid to put up a young dog over the adults if the youngster is deserving. i would show under him anyday. very nice gentleman. his wife is also a judge, but i have never had a chance to show under her. (what kind of name is POGO for a human??????) vicky

Vicky, have you shown under Pogo Thomann before? I have once and I don't know if it he's always cranky or if it was just because we were nearly the last dog down for the day at a fairly large show. But he really did not show my poor puppy bitch any mercy on the table who I'd already been working with confidence on the table. He sort of set her confidence level back a bit he was so unforgiving with her. He is the judge for Saturday in June and wonder if I should show him another puppy.

I read in Purina's last news letter it was ahead of schedule. UKC is hosting what is supposed to be a big event there the end of October. I've never got to go to a UKC show before as they don't have very many within a reasonable distance to me. This one in October will be good for testing the waters, although I know I'll enjoy it. The origional dates for the IABCA June show, the Rolla MO KC is hosting an AKC show that weekend. AKC's annual schedule got moved a week down or something this year. I would like to take that puppy to IABCA in July but it is already so hot in June, July will be sure to be a killer.

Can't wait until Purina's new event center in Gray Summit is completed, going to be so nice. Can't believe I actually have a UKC show within 3 hours of me too that I can go to. "Might" be going to Gray Summit June 18/19 with a fresh 6 month old male puppy. Could be fun.

since you are in minnesota, you are in the same division as wisconsin. you need 8 males for a three point. go to akc.com, sign in with them. in the search space, type in point schedule and then look for division 6, i believe. illinois just lowed down to 6 males for a 3-pt major. i believe they are in division 5. the reason i won't show under kahn is she has got to be one of the ruddest people on earth. i don't care for judging. showed a real nice bulldog bitch under her a few years back. got dumped to an over-size, non-leash broke, untrained, puppy that pooped in the ring. the dog was a very poor example of the breed and should not have even been shown. also, she was very rude to a friend of mine. my friend was showing to her that day. my friend had a weight problem and kahn asked her if she was pregnant. my friend told her no, so kahn asked her if she ever heard of jenny craig and walked away from her. needless to say, my friend didn't do anything under her and the bitch she was showing was a consistiently winning dog. if you go to duluth, you don't have to enter under every judge. showed a collie up in idaho, 4 show weekend. there was a lady that entered only one day, under pete dawkins, and lo and behold, she walked away with everything.. mr & mrs. lowell davis would be good choices also to show under. wonderful people. there are some judges i show under because i just like them. you want to break a dog into the show world with nice judges and not someone that is harsh and rough. if you want, you can e-mail me privately at corgi97@aol.com. in subject line, just put" it's me shelley" utherwise, you might end up in delete. hotter than hades here. staying in and out of the weather. also have those little white things floating around that make me sneeze. take care, vicky
