hartiger-ok, rogell-?, laurans-?, stein-ok, brown-?, cavanna-?, kahn-wouldn't show a dead skunk to her, alderman-so-so, vukich-if it's the one i'm thinking, try, but if lynn brooks(busy Bee) is there, she will walk away with everything, mcgowan-known for loving movement, brooks and edwards- no idea. there is a slew of new judges that people i know that have been showing a long time don't even reconize. this isn't much help, but it is a little.

these are the ones I have looked at so far, what do you think of the judges? I never thought of it this way before.. makes no sense to spend money to show under a judge that doesnt do corgis well

Vicky- yes Walnut Grove the home of little house on the prairie and Laura Engalls
we will see if we can make it to that show would be fun

yes, the marquette shows are in YUPPER country. it is beautiful up there. i haven't gone there for a few years, but it's time i do. my friend with great danes is thinking about going also. the judges are known for liking "natural" ears, and her's are all natural eared. isn't walnut grove the home of the ingels? yes, i use to watch little house. it's about a 3 hour drive for me. i hit 41 north. the hotel i stay at is on hwy 41, and the show grounds are basically at the end of hwy 41. it's pretty there, but really not much to do. give the show ring at least an honest 2 year shot. once you learn the judges and a few more show people, you can pick and choose. there are a couple i refuse to show under and there are those i would drive distance's for. take care. let me know if you decide to U.P. it. we could always meet somewhere. i will probably start doing minnesota shows next year. still taking everything slow. later. vicky

Oh, yes, Marquette, we call that "the UP" upper peninsula Michigan thats a ride but may be doable. Its a beautiful area! Thats a terrific ride from green bay no?? Spunky came from folks in Walnut grove MN, named Hanson, who quit showing years ago but their daughter continued , and then moved out and married, leaving the sire and Dam with the folks, they have had a few litters just because they enjoy raising the pups, but do not breed regularly anymore. Mika came from a breeder in MO who was recommended to me via a veterinarian friend. I contacted her about a female and she had kept Mika back as she thought she would be a bit bigger and be a good match for her smaller male, and she was one from the last litter from her dam, who passed not too long after Mikas litter,as it turned out in the end she decided she wasnt going to be big enough to be the right match for her male, . We think she will be a good match for Spunky for the reverse reasons, we will try for a more median size and the best qualities of both if all the testing comes back good. in any case as you say this is not a bread and butter thing, just an indulgent hobby.ANd it is expensive,, vet bills testing show entries, travel costs, etc etc let alone entry fees. But it is fun, and where else can you have so much fun for about 25-30 dollar entry fee per show/day? You still have to eat travel stay on any other vacation or what not. SO I am justifying it!
As for breeding, If we can improve on what we have for the next generation, and get a pup we can start from the beginning , all the better. If it turns out we decide not to breed them, they will still be much loved pets:) , and we will see how Spunky does in the shows. One day I can retire and kids will all have flown the nest, and I can do more of this.

shelley. still in green bay. lived in utah for 7 yrs. the corgis, as well as a lot of the breeds are different in different areas. when i was in utah, we had hit some shows in idaho. the corgis that were entered wuld have made jack and your spunky look like small. i was showing jacks half sister, who was actually on the high end standard, and she looked little. but then the following year, all the corgis had gone back down in size. it changes so much.i am also planning on going to marquette 3 day show over labor day weekend. it's a nice show and the grounds are nice and it's east to find. there is also a motel about 15-20 minutes away that i always stay at. they have kitchenettes and the people are so sweet. the lake is right across the road. where did you get your two babies from? and from spunky's picture, he looks to me like he needs a little more maturity. but i think he looks nice. i have only used jack once for breeding and that will probably be it for him. he just turned 10, and his boys are going to be two this august. joker just got his chest in a couple of months ago. we have slow maturing lines, although jinx, developed way before joker. it's always good to keep records of your judges and points.i knew someone years ago that bought a catalog every time they showed, and marked all results, both male and female. this was a good thing because somehow akc made a mistake on their dogs points for it's championship and so they dug out all the show catalogs and copied every page necessary to show their dogs wins and akc went thru everything again and found out they were right. also, you can make your own comments on the judges in your catalogs and have them for reference for future shows. a friend of mine that i use to show their bulldog for, kept a small notebook to keep her judges comments in. 4 stars-will definitly show under agin, skull was i don't know if i would show to them but might try one more time, skull and crossbones- never in a million years wuld i waste money under this judge again. we all seem to come up with something. a great way to get your dog more use to crowds and strange people going over him, is a trip to the mall or large busy places like grocery stores and just ask people to pet him. you never know, you might meet more doggy people. i avoid taking mine to petsmart and petco because a lot of dogs go thru there and one doesn't know what the others are bringing into the store. i do dog shows because i enjoy them. i was brought up in this doggy show world, but my hounds are family first, bed potatoes, butt-heads and what have you before they are show dogs. jack loves to show(perhaps a bit too much) and what i've seen of joker, he enjoys it also. keepit on the fun side. if they aren't perfect, oh well, they are critters with minds of their own. when i see a dog that acts like a robot and stands perfect, i wonder what kind of life that dog has. have you checked out UKC. it's more relaxed that AKC and people are nice and i know there are UKC shows in minnesota. i show AKC, UKC, and IABCA. it's all fun. i'm not a blood and guts person. i consider dog showing my very expensive hobby. take care, vicky

Mary, Spunky's sire was the smaller of the pair and also red and white. The dam was a tri girl just a bit smaller than Spunky. There were 3 pups left of the litter when we went to get Spunky, and I think he was probably a bit larger than the rest, so there were possibly smaller littermates fronm the same parents.
So just the reverse of what we are planning, A larger male(Spunky) and smaller female.(Mika) but same colorings, male red/white- female tri
