Brag Spot! This weekend Eddie and me attended the WI Boston Terrier Association UKC show. On Saturday we won a Best of Breed in Ring 1. On Sunday we won another Best of Breed in Ring 2 and then took a Group II (2nd place Herding Group).

Also, Eddie's dad Taz was there and he was able to finish his UKC Champion title! So it was an awesome weekend for us both!

So to let everyone know about how Captain did at his Vallejo show he did great on Sat with a class one and winner's dog for his first points which was a 3 point major. On Sun it was 95 degrees and he was done before he was ready to show so nada on that day.

Let me know how that goes with the suppliment. My dog has the same issue

We are showing this weekend at Coyote Hills Kennel Club in Vallejo , Ca which is my hometown. So not too much travel for me. I Feel that trimming is wrong other than feet and whiskers as breed standard states. MY only problem or one that I could encounter is that Captain has a butterfly nose which is ok in his blue color but pick up some suppliments today that should help his pigment out. Was told about it by some other handlers in the breed and a judge so we will start it out after tomorrow show.

Technically we are supposed to show our dogs in their natural state, but, people do trim or otherwise "sculpt" their dogs to give the illusion that they have something (like a long neck) even if they actually don't. Unfortunately the AKC (or really any registry) doesn't always "play by the rules" and award the most natural best dog out there. I know I've seen the dog that was a cookie cutter for the standard lose simply because the other dog had a handler. Politics suck.

I think I'd check to make sure it's ok to clip/sculpt/trim or otherwise "adjust" anything on a cardi with the exception of the hair on the bottoms of the feet and the whiskers. At shows I have heard breeders/handlers talk about "cheating" and actually saw a handler trimming their bitch's belly hair--you should have heard the negative comments then! For my Skeezix (CH Social's Skeezix) all I do is dremel his nails, clip his pad hair, and wash/fluff/groom his coat. He is a remarkable dog--earned his championship w/ 4 back to back 4 pt majors, went BOS as a special and won the Chesapeake Sweeps. He's been just hanging out this past winter but we'll be back showing again this summer and fall.
