&:25 PM Monday noght... shelley chip and monk arrived safely home from DesMoines ( well, from Ames, where I chickened out and spent the night)
Mn roads at noon or later were still horrible as soon as I crossed the border unti; north of Hinckly, but made it from Ames to Hibbing in 8 1/2 hours... and most of the way in daylight:) no white knuckles, but lots of stuid idiots flying off the highway and into the snowbanks LOLOL gotta fly down the fast lane.. and wipe put on the ice under the snow blowing all over the place... MSp was a disaster still all thru the 35 interchanges.... .. but it was doable with caution.. and we are home after a really fun weekend! Thanks to all for the warm welcome:) great to meet everyone and congrats on the wins:)
I have one rough collie at home-Clairee. She's easy to deal with as far as the grooming goes, but Rebecca-holy carp! She's got a kennel full of gorgeous dogs and they are all in top condition. Alec has been helping her for a couple of years and I even got to take a rough boy back in and got RWD! Alec showed her BBE bitch to BOW/WB on Saturday-Tegan is a hoot-full of piss and vinegar. Took breed in both coats-Smooth and Rough, both days. Her rough is a 9 year old vet, sire of the smooth special and her recently retired rough special. She brought him out while his next son is getting back in coat. 9 yrs old and a group 1 the weekend before and this weekend a group 3.
Anyway, yes Connor(the smooth male special) is gorgeous and Alec loves him. Rebecca wants Alec to take him and special him for her. I've got to place a couple dogs first before I can even think about having him in the house. That's the new project.
Shelley is hanging in Ames Iowa:( until MN can clear some roads.. the sotorm closed roads and schools from almost the border up and thru Hinckley/Cloquet on the north side... so with the ice..Ill hang here and give the temps and winds time to settle and roads cleared.. Been watching the news and talking to residents of the frozen north...
Weekend was great .. am catching up and filling in some notes... never enough time to gab with Cindy and Alec and MS...
finally got some time to talk with the very gracious Linda williams...who is always so busy.. just less so with ohh 5 or so dogs to handle this weekend LOLOL
WIll take me months to keep all the names and faces and dogs in order, but was great to finally put faces with names- thanks to all..
and collies?? well shelly knows NOTHING about collies... HAHAHAH but they were beautiful!! and CIndy's friend had a mess of 'em!!!
and the handbooks and bullitins are terrific..!! am already obsessed with them LOLOL
thanks to all for the gracious welcome!! fun meeting all!!!
Best part of the weekend was seeing friends and talking talking talking talking! Shelley finally got to put faces to names and I sent her home with a huge bag of CWCCA handbooks and years worth of bulletins. She'll be buried in pedigrees and photos for months.
What a weekend! I haven't seriously been to a show since early last fall--way too long. I was so happy to have Shelley come down and get a good hands on look at Chipper. Tell you what, the scare part was seeing Russ walk in with Kim, then have Chip, Charlie and Walt all around him. He really stamped his kids--the all sound like him too.
We had Pete and Merlot entered. Merlot went simply to add points, though didn't help as it was 2 short for the major, and for juniors. Nothing in juniors and she won her class of 2 on Saturday, only one in her class Sunday. Peterman had a great weekend, though would have been better had it been majors 'cause that's what she needs to finish. WB/BOW on Saturday and WB on Sunday. She really loved the judge on Saturday-followed her, ears up and really moved out nice at the end of her lead. God bless her pointy little head!
Papa Russ didn't do anything this weekend-little rusty after 8 mos off. A good practice show for him.
Sat-BOB Turn-key's Little Big Man(Raider), BOS-Dawn Fisher's Grace(shown by Lani), BOW/WB-PETE!, Selects-Dawn Fisher's Peace and Picasso.
Sun-BOB-Sulley, BOS-Grace, BOW/WD-blue dog(can not remember his name for the life of me and the catalogs at home) Select-Raider
On Friday, we had my daughter's Pomeranian in the specialty and she was Best Junior(she's the only one ever entered) and 2nd out of 2 in her veteran bitch class. It's just fun to take the old dog out and play with her. Everyone loves her and knows her and the pom group is great.
One of the best parts of the weekend was my son getting a chance to special a handsome smooth collie. #9 in the country last year with very limited showing. Took BOB both days. His breeder/handler is a good friend and Alec helps her show when he can. Might have a new dog to show in a month or so!!! Can't say no to my kids :)
