Hi all! I am new to the group and am just getting involved in the world of showing. I actually want to show Aussies, not Corgis, so I know the specs will be different, but any general advice you can give would be great! I have been in touch with a show breeder and have plans to get a puppy from her in about a year, and am just learning everything I can between now and then!!

Captain got his second major over the weekend. He now has 9 points and just needs to chip away for the rest. He turned 10 months on the 21st. We are so happy. He does not like to show in the afternoon and our new trick which I guess is not new is to not feed him the day of the show so he wants the bait more and is more attentive. I think I am going to go to the Eukanuba Cup in Dec since it is an open show this year.

Hi, I am so glad t have found this part of MyCorgi. I have been showing since February. I have been to some AKC and IABCA shows. Our first ever show was IABCA Moberly, MO and first AKC was North Arkansas KC in Harrison. I have been to a small handful of shows since, some were just to watch. I have used a handler, a very well noted one for PWC's in fact that I have contacted for random advice but I really like to be able to show them my self. I would contact her for more advice but she is sooooooooo busy. I am actually showing at my next show at Crab Orchard, Marion, Illinois which is next weekend with a new puppy bitch. Admittedly, I was worried about her depth of chest but then I read down in the thread about no puppy in 6-9 will have a chest just because they are pups so I am relieved. I stress out so much but I LOVE IT!!! I think I can officially call my self a dog show junkie. I have a weekly full show grooming sessions with the dogs I plan to show and kind of practice on getting the "look".

So over this past weekend we traveled to Bandon Or for the Coos Bay Kennel Club Show. We met up with Captain's family and all three breeders. He had 3 sisters there and his mother. Had a great time camping and meeting everyone. To top if off on Sunday he was WD then eneded with BOW for 2 points. SO far he has 6 points and one of his majors out of the way. The breeders are already wishing they kept him and planning on who to breed too. He is doing great and theyfeltshould have gotten BOB that day over their other dog that just became a special. Next show in Dixon, Ca Aug 1 and 2,

Please help if you can . . . pass along to other dog lists (I've already sent it to corgi-l and showcardi)

Thanks,
Melissa Bee

Anthony and Debra Pepe asked to post and request that you repost to any 'doggy' lists with members who may live in the area.

Their beloved 3 year old red and white Pembroke Welsh Corgi bitch (in show condition) escaped from being temporarily boarded in the Elkton, MD area early this week, and despite great efforts by everyone, has not yet been located.
She is microchipped and friendly, although undoubtedly frightened (they've had severe thunderstorms in the area which haven't helped with that, or with tracking efforts).
Please remember this little dog and the Pepes in your prayers, and reach out to any other lists in case there are any dog lovers in that geographic area MD/PA/DE) who may still be unaware. Anthony has to return to work in NJ this next week for a few days but will be back in the MD area soon--his cell phone # is 732-713-1709 and you can leave a message with any info or sightings.

Today was day 1 of a four day show here in Vallejo called Woofstock. It is put on by two different kennel clubs. Captain took a class 1 but he was the only one. He did take Winners Dog and Best of Winners for only 1 point. That was fine as that puts me 1 point closer and gives me another judge. She really liked him but he didn't move as well as I would have liked. I think if he would have we could have taken breed. He has a lot of time so I am not worried and we still have three more days of shows.
