It's funny how that works isn't it? LOL
Part of my aversion tot he series was that my husband managed a Borders bookstore out here in Az and when Breaking Dawn came out they had a midnight release party. I went to bring him a drink and and was instantly overwhelmed by all the squealing girls. I 've been to Harry Potter midnight release parties before and this was 10 times worse because it was pretty much all girls in their early teens and they could not be still and quiet for any length of time. The employees had to dress up so I just threw some dark eye make up on my husband along with some pale powder and he wore this Venetian outfit he wore for Halloween and he said all the little girls would not leave him alone all night. They kept calling him Edward which he looked nothing like. After that madness I decided I couldn't be a pat of that. I'm glad I gave in though. I'll read or watch anything vampire really. :)

haha, you sound just like me Alice! I kind of knew I'd like the books, but I refused to read them because they were so "pop culture-y"..but one day I gave in and rented the movie and I immediately bought the whole series and read the entire thing in 2 weeks! I have now gone through it twice and want to start it again! lol

There is a more recent post on her site dated August 28, 2008 whee she states that she will not be finishing Midnight Sun for the reasons I gave below. Unfortunately it has not been mentioned since so I don't hink we'll be reading the complete version in the future unless she has a change of heart. At the end of that post is where you can read the partial draft.

Jacki, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I don't know why I enjoy the story so much to be honest. :) I agree that it can be a bit too much for teens. I'm surprised how many parents let their daughters read it when those same parents banned Harry Potter believing it encouraged black magic and devil worship.

Alice- Midnight Sun is actually still planned on being released by Stephenie. From her website:

June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun.

Oh- I hear ya on the "I'll NEVER read these books".... The movie was horrible, but the books just sucked me in! They dialogue is (at times) too mature for these "teenagers". entertaining...but won't win a Pulitzer.

I'm almost done with Breaking Dawn right now. I put off reading the series for as long as possible because I was sure it would be a sappy teenage love story but my friend gave in and read Twilight and told me I really would like it (she knows how I love vampires). I've liked Robert Pattinson since he played Cedric in Harry Potter so I thought, why not give the movie a try and if nothing else I'll get to see Robert. :) I actually really liked the movie even though there was some bad acting (I won't name names) so I surrendered and bought the book. That was only about a month ago and now I'm almost done. I would have been done by now except that the closer I get to the end the slower I go because I don't want it to be over. I don't know why I love these books. They're not the best literary works by any means. I do love them though and my husband laughs at me for being defeated by Twilight. :)

In case you haven't heard, Midnight Sun will not be released. After the manuscript was leaked Stephenie Meyer decided she would not finish it. She said she's too angry about the whole thing and she cannot finish the story in that state of mind or she would just want to kill off all the characters. She posted everything she has written thus far on her website. It's a good 200 pages at least. I read it and it and enjoyed it. Too bad she won't finish it.
