About My Corgi(s):
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14

Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.

Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.

Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6

Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
I have:
Both Pembroke and Cardigan

I get most of Dudley's clothes at Target! I'm not sure which picture you're commenting on as I don't have a picture of my kids with a tennis ball. Dudley only recently started playing ball, which I totally LOVE! Taffy only has a few select toys with which she plays and they're all stuffed, no tennis balls.

Aww what a sweet baby!!! Your Lance is a heartbreaker! It's nice to see my Bailey isn't the only "different" guy around! Bailey's got one blue eye, sort of dappled - and with his white feet and chest he really does look like he's wearing a cardigan :)
  • Brian

    Thanks for the nice comment
  • Casey

Ooh great advice, I'll try that! He just about lives in my lap anyway. :)
  • Gina and Zak

Your corgi is so beautiful, I love his coloring! I will try and get more pictures up soon!
  • Linda Baker

Hi! I got it and thanks! My computer skills are limited so I am never really sure if I send what I write or not. Love the coloring on your baby. My abby likes to check out the goodies in the dishwasher as well. They are so funny.
  • Linda Baker

I did not receive comment back on the traits. I had my husband check as well to be sure. I think I am getting more comfortable with the computer though.
  • Linda Baker

Hi orlandomom-I got your email-I love the picture of lance in the dishwasher. Abby runs for the dishwasher as soon as she hears it open-wants to clean the plates. What do you feed Lance-My vet has suggested royal canine allergy for my male corgi- and to keep things simple I had thought of putting all my dogs on the same brand just a different blend as they are not allergy prone-I had them on iams and I am not happy with it-
  • Apryl

Thanks! That was him in the office with me on Thursday. He gets paid (in treat form) to keep everyone's stress levels low. : )
  • Apryl

HI! where in IL are you?
  • Linda Baker

I appreciate the input. I had actually had the girls on a purina food and Teddy, my boy on the royal canine skin allergy food-his nose was fading and he was sounding as if he was having asthma attacks and tummy distress to name a few symptons. The allergy food has worked well for him but the girls are not so prone to the same issues so the vet recommended they stay on the ssame purina food they were on. I kind of decided on my own to try the Iams for the girls and I did a little research and I am not comfortable with some of the things I read. I called the vet and they are going to get me a food in the same line as Teddy, but not the same formula. I will feel better mentally anyway. I am becoming super sensitive to the food they eat and the recall was an eye openener.
  • K Hartshorn

Thanks! They seem to think so too. Lance ears are soo cute : )
  • Cookie Y.

Was wondering if the breeder that you got your Corgi from has any more dogs?
I am new at this website and haven't figured out how this works.
    Hope you get this e-mail

    Hello!!
    I love Lance's spots...makes him so unique.
  • winnie_the_dog

thanks for the complement on the pics. winnie's new favorite toys are the barnyard animals by go dog. we have all three now cow sheep and pig (plus an older sheep). they have 5 squeakers and hold up really well.

Lance is adorable. i love the spots.
  • Cookie Y.

    Hi,
I have been in touch with Sandy at SunnyGardenFarm and plan to go there soon. Just a little pricey, since our cat came from the local animal shelter!
    Thanks for your reply. Judi
  • Cookie Y.

Yes, I just saw the article. I am not sure what I should do...I haven't filled out an application with Lakeshore. Maybe I should give them a call tomorrow.

  • Carmen

I adore Lance's coloring. Very cute! I'm hoping for a blue merle for our next cardi! Thanks for all the nice comments on my site!
  • Kristin

Thanks! It's one of our most popular designs. I love your corgi's color, very beautiful and unique!
  • Melissa

I got the bee costume at Target!

Eowyn sometimes plays with herself, but she'd prefer playing with us. Fortunately, I've never had any problems with her chewing on furniture, only clothes, pencils, teddy bears and kleenex. She had a real thing about getting into the cat litter box and eating stuff from there. But, one day about a month ago she just suddenly changed and started calming down. So we decided to leave her out of her crate one day. We were gone about an hour to an hour and a half and we came back and she hadn't done a thing, not even get into the kitty box. So we leave her out all the time. Usually we're only gone for about 3 to 4 hours. But, if something comes up, we've left her longer and she didn't do anything. (We had a family emergency where we had to go to the hospital at 4 a.m. and didn't come back until 3 p.m. and she was out the whole time. Yet, we do walk her a lot which helps a bundle! I never thought that we would see this day that we could leave her out 24/7, but it came. I think if you keep leaving him out every so often and increase the amount of time you leave him, I'm pretty sure in time you'll be able to do so. =)
  • Cookie Y.

We e-mailed and decided that I should fill out an application. The gal said that she will be receiving 5-6 dogs this weekend, ages 1-8 yrs. old. Since my hubby has given us the "go ahead" yet, I cannot go forward. Thanks for asking! If you know anyone who could help Lakeshore out, they are going to be needing homes and maybe foster homes for these poor dogs!
  • Cookie Y.

I meant to say that hubby has NOT given me the go ahead. Sorry!
  • Bella

No its not short for anything I wanted her name to start with a B, since both my cats names do. It was originally Bell, but that didn't flow well for me. Even though now I think I should have named her bunny because of her tail, big ears, and how she hops in the snow!
  • Bella

Thats so funny. Bella still has big ears compared to her small face. Usually people ask me why she has no tail! Lance looks just as mischievous and playful as Bella. Does he like to antagonize the other dogs?
  • Vicki Peters

Hi! Lilly the Mom was purchased, as I always wanted a Corgi. A friend of mine had a male corgi and we got them together. Lilly had 5 puppies. We sold two of them, one got ran over and I gave one away. Dottie was a cutie so I kept her. It really is so neat to have a mother/daughter combo.

  • Bella

I know exactly what you mean. Bella will run up to any dog wanting to play, which is a little scary when its a big dog that doesn't seem that friendly. Plus she is very submissive, and will immediately role on her back the second another dog runs up to her if they aren't on a leash. I've only seen Bella interact with 1 corgi, and it was a 2 month old (she was 8 months), and I have to say it was the cutest thing! They have the same mannerisms when they play fight.
  • Bella

Lance and Isabella should be fine-i haven't seen a unfriendly corgi yet!
  • Patti

'mom, i was trying to be polite about the "dog" comment - hard to believe the rivalry pems owners feel, must be tail envy.... earlier there was a comment that our dogs are "ugly" and our breeders are substandard.... "can't we all just get along....."
  • Patti

'Mom - when we got Luna, I introduced her to Kai at a park across the street. My breeder had suggested to not introduce them in any area of the home that Kai felt was his. Kai and Luna played for an hour, then we walked around the block, made it home and they played fabulously. Kai shared all his toys, Luna shared all the ones I had bought for her and things were ok. A few days later Kai's nose was out of joint (Luna hadn't left)- but after one minor melt down, he was fine. I'd bring some of Lance's toy's, let them play in a neutral area, and make sure that they both get "alone" time with their owners. I'm sure they'll be fine and you'll have lots of fun!
  • CassieD44

Lance is so precious...I love our pems but cardis seem to just make some of the cutest faces!
  • winnie_the_dog

Winnie's birthday is 10/19. we just made her appt to be spayed on the 18th ... happy six month day!
  • Lauren (Duke and Daisy's momma)

Thanks for the congrats. Your Lance is such a pretty dog.
  • Patti

'Mom - I have found the spot for Lance and Luna's first date - I'm in Key West and Luna has actually had TOO much attention! But I figure if the two dogs were to actually walk down any street here, time might actually stand still.
  • Sam & Maximus

Lance is a real cutie. Such different coloring, I have never seen that before. Is he mix or full corgi? I can't believe how fast time is going with Max either, he's almost 6 months old, such a big boy.
  • JennFerguson

he is by far the prettiest corgi I've seen yet. Blue eyes on animals have always been appealing to me...so unique. I think both breeds are special
  • Sam & Maximus

I am obviously no corgi expert. I wasn't aware of a blue merle. He looks like a great dog, beautiful eyes.
  • Carrie Hall

Thank you so much!! Lance is adorable, love those eyes!! :)
  • Geri & Sidney

Lance is such a beautiful boy! Good luck with the training.
  • Charlie

You're welcome! I feel your frustration. Leash training has to be the single most difficult thing for the majority of dogs (and owners) to learn. It has certainly been the biggest challenge and the most work for Charlie and I so far. Keep at it and Lance will do great! : - )
  • CaptainCorgi

    Most welcome!
  • Alex and Elizabeth

    Hi, Lance....Glad to meet you!
  • Alex and Elizabeth

Aw, shucks. we bet you say that to all the corgis! LOL
  • Alex and Elizabeth

I think the Pembroke is a bit more high strung than the Cardigan. Alex is very playful, but calmer and more focused (usually) than Elizabeth. That being said, I got Elizabeth out of rescue, so that may be part of the issue.
  • Alex and Elizabeth

Alex came from a breeder who lives in Oregon, IL, about 60 miles SW of Rockford. I got Elizabeth out of rescue. She was living near Galena.
  • Patti

Hey O'Mom! How r u? every time I see Lance's pic, I gotta say how much I love his ears! love that color! FLA does get hot in the summer, tho... we just throw the dogs in the water and that cools them off, I can only imagine Lance and Luna at the beach - all the explaining we'd have to do 'bout why they look the way they do.... just got back from Key West with the dogs - they had a blast for Conch Republic days, 'cept Kai could not stand the cannon being shot. Dogs are well-loved in the keys and welcomed everywhere, too much fun! take care!
  • Julie

Hey thanks! I'm not at my usual computer, so when I get on my laptop I'll have to add my pics. I've gotten into photography, so look for new pics here and there as I practice -- my dog is a good learning tool :)
  • Julie

Lance sure is a cutie! I love his coloring. Very unique! I've never actually seen a Cardigan. I don't know anyone with one. Pembrokes are a lot more common. I work at a veterinary clinic and always see Pembrokes. Which is fine, because I love to see them! I usually am kind of childish about it, as I fight my other co-workers for the appointments with a Corgi, hah! Selby has been with me for about 5 months now, as I finally got a place of my own where I could get a dog. I've had Bichons all my life, and I have a 10 year old Bichon who lives with my parents. My parents actually got my Bichon for me as a present when I was younger, but I've always been a Corgi fan... my mom just isn't a fan of shedding!
  • Sherrie

I got the vest at Target but it was over 2 years ago. They don't have them there anymore. I think that other vest that is similar without the swivel is probably the current version of it. The swivel did make it heavier and probably pricier so that might be why the ones for sale now don't have it. I need to look around for something for Abbie that will let her move around better without tangling like that one did since she swims in her big brother's harness.
  • Pamela

i too have a problem with my girls. I feel like I am being dragged along each time i walk the girls. Arty the 2 year old is good but annie pulls me all the way. We did get both girls a no pull harness and so far it is working out pretty good. Arty walks like she doesnt have a thing on and annie still pulls some but she is getting use to it. I cant wait for the day I am walking and not being dragged behind...but love my girls
