Therapy Dogs?

Posted on July 14, 2009 at 1:47pm 4 Comments

Are any of you corgi owners using your corgis for therapy dogs? People always tell me both of my dogs would be great for it - does anyone have any info?
Thanks!
Donna

Casey is going for a trial weekend starting tomorrow to a good home in the burbs with a woman with another rescue. Hopefully this will be his forever home!

I kissed a dog...

Posted on September 2, 2008 at 2:07pm 7 Comments

I just can't help singing my own version of the popular song - I kissed a girl - it goes something like this...

I kissed a dog
and I liked it
The taste of his milk-bone biscuit

I kissed a dog
and I liked it
I hope the cat don't mind it!

I told some of my non-dog friends this - and they thought I was crazy - so I'm wondering what all you corgi lovers think - listen to the song if you haven't heard it.

My New Rescue Dog Sully!

Here is my new rescue dog Sully. He is 4 years old - a corgi mix - he is named after Sully the big blue monster in Monsters, Inc. He is the sweetest dog ever! So far so good at home and with Ruby!

Donna, so sorry for your loss. Both of your dogs were beautiful with such soulful eyes. We had to put our first Corgi Niblick to sleep in 2003 and we waited all the way to last September before getting Bogart, who we adore.  Our thoughts are with you. Bogart sends a loving lick as well.

Hi! Thanks for the compliments. She's definitely cute, and unfortunately she knows it :). We got her from a breeder down in Landsdale, PA, Susan Strickland. She has beautiful dogs, and from what we've seen/experienced with Kiwi I've been thoroughly impressed. Hope you're doing well.

Hi Donna, I just noticed that you're from Philly, my husband and I live up in Limerick PA ( about 30 mins away from the city). Just thought I'd drop you a hello!

This is good news. What kind of Holistic meds are you using. I am from a very small town and I would have to check to see if I can find a Holistic Vet here. Thanks for the news.

There's this song on my boyfriend iPod that goes like "I'd cross the ocean for you oh Kelsey" and I change the name to Lola everytime, he gets so mad haha

Your song is so much cuter though =)

Hi Donna, thanks for the info, go ahead and reply to this thread, feel free to document your experience with tri-state corgi there.

I might possibly getting a 7 year old rescue from Tri-state in West Virginia. Waiting for a qualified person to do a home visit. The boy is pretty heavy and will need help getting his weight off. Does anyone have experience with this? I know you need to be careful to take the weight off them gradually - I want to be prepared in case the boy comes my way soon!

Hi Donna,
Both your Corgis are beautiful. I am so sorry about Oliver. I know only too well how it feels as I lost my boy, Roy in April, 2006. He was my angel. Though he's gone but he will always live in my heart. I bought Ritz (my currant Corgi), 5.5 months after Roy passed on. It helped me to lessen the pain of the loss. Please be strong for Ruby.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. One of my clients had to let go of her 14 yr old Corgi :(
