We need advice!

We have had Ralphy for one week. He is very timid in the house still. He loves to just lay on his costco bed. We try to get him to play but he won't. He does not come when we call him often. He loves to cuddle and have his belly rubbed. He was not a good walker at first. He would walk a bit then sit on lay down on walks. We have been walking twice a day and with other dogs so he has gotten better and will go for…

Do you know much about his background and where he lived before you got him? I think it's great that he likes to cuddle and have his belly rubbed. If that soothes him, I'd do a lot of that and get him as relaxed and comfortable as possible. The obedience classes are also a good idea, but I might give him a couple of more weeks to settle into his new home before beginning the group classes. We re-homed a 4 mo. old puppy and he was hyperactive and crazy for 6 mo. Count your blessings! ; ) Ours is now a year old and much better.
