I've used Advantage with my last corgi and had no problems.  With my current rescue Thor, I noticed the medication 'amps' him up and his breath smells like Advantage (!)  I gave him a smaller dose…Continue

Weird Corgi Trait?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Beth Jul 22, 2011. 7 Replies

Whenever Thor sees a small dog that is white or with curly fur, he will crouch low and walk slowly towards the dog, like he's stalking sheep - when he realizes it's another dog, then he goes back to…Continue

"Hello Melissa - yes, I adopted my little corgi Thor (on January 1, 2011) from Golden Gate Corgi, along with another corgi - i believe my cost was ~$300 for the two.   Due to sudden incompatibility, I had to return one of the corgis back…"

"Bento is on Trifexis. It's taken orally, which I like. It doesn't seem to taste very good because Bento will spit it out if it's not covered with sufficient amount of peanut butter. It smells like dirt to me. According to my vet and…"

"After poor performance by all the topicals, we moved to Comfortis (the chewable) with great success. It is the only thing that has worked consistently for us with no side effects"

"I've used comfortis for 2 years now and never seen a flea on any of the dogs who are outside and in central Texas brush...just switched to trifexis which now is flea, parasite and heartworm med all combined."

"I am using Trifexis for Scout.  I Like the medication given by mouth for her because she loves getting in water and I can also give her baths if she gets muddy (which is inevitable).  It also works as a heartworm preventative.  What…"

What flea meds work best?

I've used Advantage with my last corgi and had no problems.  With my current rescue Thor, I noticed the medication 'amps' him up and his breath smells like Advantage (!)  I gave him a smaller dose this time, he still had the same reaction and this time he vomited (1 day after his bath and flea treatment; but he still had an appetite and didn't vomit anymore).  So, is Frontline a better alternative?  I don't think Advantage is sold anymore, and I've heard that Advantix is not as effective and…See More

Beth replied to Norma Stoliar's discussion Weird Corgi Trait?

Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
First corgi / Red Shores Ruben Flagg (1986-1994)
2nd corgi / Winston of the Pooh (1995-2008)
Current Corgi: Thor; picked him up on January 1, 2011 from the Golden Gate Corgi Rescue group - approximately 11 yrs old, a 25-lb male R/W Pembroke corgi, absolutely sweet, funny, loves tummy rubs and long walks (and lots of treaats!) - we also adopted his house buddy, Loki (a 12-yr old Sable), unfortunately we had to return him to Rescue becausehe kept attacking little Thor, causing a nasty head gash - We hated to send him back, but we felt it would be best for Loki to be placed in a 1-dog family home. Thor's head has healed very nice, and he is now enjoying his new life with us, getting all the attending he deserves.
I have:
