Oscar used to be very good about being quiet in his bed in the morning until we came to take him out. He would let us sleep in on the weekends and wouldn't make a peep. Oscar got a really good brushing last night and as I'm sure you all know the fur just never ends!!! I brushed him for about 30 minutes he loves it so it makes the process much easier. The pile of undercoat I had at the end of the grooming session made me laugh. I was sure I could make a small dog out of it all. I am sure Oscar is feeling much cooler now.

Finally a weekend spent away from the animal hospital!!!



Last weekend we were back at Ocean State Animal Hospital with Oscar; this time not due to his epilepsy but the parasite giardia. Oscar had tested positive for the parasite and gone through a week on pancur and was presenting no symptoms so we thought we had won that fight. Sadly we were wrong. Since we took Oscar home on Monday night he has been taking 6mls of Potassium Bromide liquid a night before bed. The first night he came home they warned us that he may be sleepy for a next 5 or so days. His dosage will drop down to 1.5 mls after 4 days. He was rather energetic on Monday night. He was very happy to be home; almost as happy as we were to have him. He has had two days so far on the heavy dose of the medication and it seems today that it is taking his tole on the little guy. This weekend was a traumatic one for my little family. On Saturday night Oscar had a seizure. It last about 2 and a half minutes but it felt like an eternity. It was around 10pm at night but we rushed him to the nearest emergency vet clinic. As Oscar was looking and acting back to normal right after the seizure we were told to just watch him and that it may be just a one time thing.
