Spring?? Is That You??

Taking a quick moment to update things for the "Stump Kids." We just came back from our first hike of the new year--it's a gorgeous mid-50 degree, sunny day, so we went out with Matt and our friends Merinda and John and Porter, their 5-year-old Cardigan Welsh Corgi (he's Dally and Mesa's best friend) to the Palisades for some hiking near the Kentucky River. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! This, of course, was followed by a stop at Bruster's for free pup cups for the kids. (The…

My puppy's turning 4!!

Tomorrow, July 16, Dally turns the big 4! I can't believe she's four years old already!! In September I'll celebrate our four-year anniversary of the day she entered my life.

In the four years Dally has graced the Earth with her presence (that's how she looks at it, at least), we've done so much. Only a few months after I took her home from that barn over an hour away from my hometown, we moved to Texas, where I finished her potty training… Continue

Agility Update

Man, it has been forever since I posted an update on Dally's agility!! Sorry I've been such a slacker lately, but life has been crazy busy for me, and I haven't been on MC.com in a long time.

Dally and I have been consistantly competing at agility trials at least once a month, mostly AKC. She has earned her Open Standard title, and is one leg away from earning her Open Jumpers title. We've competed in Excellent Standard A at a couple of trials now, and find that the courses aren't… Continue

Dally's new agility title!!

Hi everyone!! It's been forever since I've been on here and posted, things have been pretty hectic for me. Two weeks ago, Dally competed in only her second AKC agility trial to finish her Novice Standard title and to attempt a 3-for-3 sweep.

We started out strong, with three jumps to the A-frame. Once I sent her up the A-frame, I went to the other side to meet her, when I heard the entire crowd gasp. I then heard Dally scratching her way up, looked up and saw a pair of ears appear at… Continue

AKC Louisville Cluster Agility Trial

Well, Dally's AKC agility debut was a BIG success!!! Out of the four day trial, we entered only Saturday (NOV A STD and NOV A JWW) and Sunday (NOV A STD). Out of the three classes, we earned 3 Qs (Qualifying scores, or "legs" of a title) and 3 first places in the 8 inches!!

Even though we were a little slow with our times (but we still managed to stay in the allotted time), we won our rounds with precision. (My mom says she isn't slow, but deliberate...with her strides to the jumps,… Continue

Dally's (and my) First Ever Agility Trial

Well, yesterday I packed up Dally and all her gear into my truck, and we headed up to Milford, Ohio, for our first-ever agility trial. This was a CPE (Canine Performance Events: www.k9cpe.com) trial, which was a little more laid back than AKC trials, and offers different "games" classes. However, we entered only the Standard, which is much like the Standard in AKC, but we were in Level 1, which does not have the teeter-totter or the weave poles. After a long wait, I started getting nervous… Continue

Agility Trial Debut!

So, I've sent in Dally's first ever agility trial entries! She is registered AKC, and we just got our CPE (Canine Performance Events) card, so we're hitting both circuits. Our first CPE trial is March 1 in Ohio, but we're #2 on the waiting list, with four runs ahead of us (here's hoping someone pulls out!). Then on March 15, the big-dog AKC trial in Louisville, Ky., at the "cluster", which is also during the regional Pembroke Welsh Corgi specialty (March 13). I'm already getting nervous and…

"Appy Holidays!"

Dallas would like to wish all her friends on MyCorgi.com "Appy holidays" (since we say her barks sound like "apps")! She's excited for the drive home to "Grandma" and "Grandpa's" house and the farm and to play in all the snow Indiana has gotten the past couple of weeks. (She hasn't gotten to see snow since she was a puppy before we moved to warmer climates.) I'll take some photos and try to do some video on my new cell phone for all to share in her joy of snow and the horses.

I…
