Yesterday afternoon, after only leaving the house for a short period of time, I found Corky on the flood. She had gotten into the trash and pulled out a snack bag which was caught over her head. I can't find the words to describe the pain and sadness I am feeling. I keep running over scenarios in my head about what I could have done, how I could have gotten home sonner, in order to prevent this from happening. I feel so guilty and like there is a hole in my heart. I love Corky and want to see her running around again. I miss her so much and I don't know what to do. I am deeply deeply saddened. To talk about her in the past tense seems wrong and turns my stomach everytime...I want her back :(

I really am sorry for your loss! I have missed seeing this anouncement. These sweet little babies get into your heart quick! They are so loving. I'm sure your baby loved you as much as you loved her. I know you will never forget her! I hope your search for a new corgi is successful and is a heart warming love as you had with Corky! Sincerely, Lisa P from WV

Heather, I am SO sorry about Corky. I can't imagine the sadness you feel, but sharing your story will help others to look at our homes and our blessings differently. You are in my prayers.

Heather, you will get through it and you can handle it. It doesn't mean you get over it. they become part of us and we don't lose that. I know it is a bit cliche', but the hardest thing about love is grief. I wish I knew the best thing to say, but I know from my own experience that words don't heal the pain--they just provide comfort in knowing that others care... she had a happy life with you--what a wonderful thing. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Heather, I wish there was a way to help you cope with the loss. One thing that has helped a lot of others is to put together a scrap book of her. It will be a painful but healing process, but might help. Please know we are all willing to listen and help in any way we can.

A corgi mom on dogster lost her corgi in the same way and made it a crusade to let as many corgi owners know as possible. I shared her blog and also a story from "Everything Corgi" in which an owner also lost a corgi this way. You're not alone and this was a terrible tragedy, that happened. I know it's hard to come to grips at this time, but you're not alone. I'm sure that every member of MyCorgi and others you've met will listen and empathize. Take care of yourself and grieve. We understand.
