Bold Corgi - Does everything HAVE to go in his mouth?

Well Owen is getting bolder and bolder every day. We noticed that we now have to use the leash every time we are outside because he is getting fast! We have shared yard with our neighbors (both houses belong to our church and we are pastors) and if they are outside with their kids (2 and 9months) Owen stops listening and we are no longer the coolest thing in his world.

He also is quick to pick up one of his favorite yard "land mines" (as we call them) meaning: pieces of bark, sticks that he can break off, and other potentially disasterous items. He finds them so quick! He is also a hoover in our house. We don't have carpet in any of the areas he hangs out except a few area rugs. So dirt, grass, whatever collects within about 30 minutes of me swiffering. He is on it.

By the way- does anyone else have a corgi attracted to the swiffer? He is like crazy for that thing. Doesn't bark at the vaccuum, not the swiffer wet mop, but hold the boat for the original swiffer. The first day he chased me so I put him in his pen. The next time he got so upset/excited when I was cleaning the other day that he had an accident. So now I put him in his kennel!

Crazy puppy.. we love him.

I think your corgi and mine must be related. George goes absolutely nuts over the swiffer and the swiffer duster. He actually grabbed the swiffer duster out of my hands and ran under the couch with it. Under the couch is where he keeps his most treasured possessions because his big sister Rosie can't fit under the couch. Rosie chases and barks at the vacuum and George loves to give the swiffer what for. George is a hoover vacuum. Everything and I mean everything goes into his mouth. The little twerp even had to spend a couple of days at the vet's because of eating and getting into everything.

Thankfully Lola doesn't have the eating problem. Although when she was a puppy she ate my cat's "treats" he left behind in his litter box. We go to the beach a lot and has never found anything interesting enough that she wants to eat. But she LOVES to chase me around the house when I am using the swiffer, it's kind of amusing.

My pup has sucked up bark, frogs, bird poo, attractive leaves, pine cones, big sea-shells, sand (yes a mouth of sand?), and his favorite, sunbaked side-walk worms. Nobody here smokes but somehow he always finds cigarette butts. (Nasty)

Yes, everything has to go into his mouth. My pups are 4 and they still have that problem. Trunks will randomly eat small things on the floor, such as mud clumps, paper, and tissues.

Good luck with the puppy raising. It will get easier.
