I think Ein is going through his terrible twos already. He is just under 6 months and he has decided to start chewing on anything. Fingers, shoes, rugs etc. At least he hasn't pretended he doesn't know his commands yet. Our dog trainer suggested we get a cat toy, or just a toy on a string and pull it around so he has to chase it. She said it would both give him a bit of exercise and cause him to not bite us.

I know. I figured they would be a lot of work, but he didn't do this for the first month we had him, so I am surprised that he is just starting it. But, I did read other people say that from about 6 months-1 year their dogs "forget" all of the commands they have learned. I hope that doesn't happen...

There is a product spray called "Shoo" that leaves a horrible smell and taste (to the dog) that will keep him away from his forbidden objects. You may have to spray it a few times but we did it when Willis was a puppy and it worked! As well as nabbing him as soon as we caught him in the act and a sharp "NO"!!
The joys of raising a puppy, eh?

I laugh at the "house looked like a junkyard...." comment...with Cruise we had the same!...gates, a brick to keep him from chewing the end of the molding, a metal bucket over the radiator shutoof valve...and now a gate in front of our breakfast nook. When we took away his other access points to get into mischeif he decide to climb...I have caught him standing on tab of the breakfast nook table chewing at the windowsill. Things seem to be getting better now but he certainly is the brat too!

We are in the same boat right now with Harry. We love him to death, but he is really trying my patience between the nipping, biteing, and the barking! He loves to bark at our cats and we just can't seem to teach him "no kitty"! lol

chloe was a nightmare when she was teething, nothing was safe. even now she is a compulsive chewer, but at least she doesnt eat my stuff anymore.
if you are looking for something for him to chase, i got chloe this really cool battery operated ball from walmart. you push the button and it rolls around by its self. the battery is kind of a pain to change but so far its been pretty durable, which amazed me because chloe usually destroys toys pretty quickly.

What a baby! So baby proof! Our house looked like a junkyard with all the barriers and gates we set up in a hurry every time she showed us a new "trick." At least it's a good way to teach your kids to keep their shoes in their rooms!
Be thankful for one thing: our enormous coon hound pup (5 mo.) can open round door knobs, and steal food off the counter. At least Ein is SHORT!
