Matt and I took a bit of a mini break this week and we are still on it but since we are home and have some fun stories already.. I thought I would share! Owen had his first time away from us this last weekend. Matt and I went to Portland for the night and Owen stayed with my parents and their cat, Rusty. Owen apparently had a great time and had no seperation anxiety. That doesn't entirely shock me because he is quite the self assured little guy.
Before we left we went over to visit a friend and their lab. Owen had a blast playing chase and whatever weird games they made up involving a ball. I thought they were going to tear the place apart. I don't know why but he loves those bigger dogs, especially labs. He is entranced by our neighbor's 3 rescue dogs that don't play with other dogs.
We took Owen over to my parents house and played outside for a bit.. I am dying to get a good picture for the calendar. Yep. I'm a stage mom. I already know it. God protect our kids from me and my camera. Owen played in the leaves and we wandered out the front door leaving Owen with my parents and their cat.
I guess Owen and Rusty warmed to each other, well Rusty warmed up a bit from a polar ice cap to maybe ice cube. He isn't the most trusting cat by nature (rescue) but at one point had a doggy bff so I've been shocked at how nasty he has been to Owen. Kind of shocked, maybe not so shocked. Well Rusty created some games for Owen, like Chase me up the stares or corner me and I'll hit you. Nice I know.
Owen probably likes my parent's house more anyway. Lots more places to run and be free. He also likes the moss in their lawn! And their pinecones.
I missed Owen while we were away too. At one point I saw a lady with her corgi and got really excited. We also went to the Oregon Zoo and I think I have an affinity to animals with short limbs. Interesting. Anyway today we are likley going for a hike and hanging out!
