Excited to find out the puppies are here!

St. Patrick's Day was an exciting day for our family! We found out the puppies have arrived!

There are seven pups. Some are red and white, and some are black and white and will end up being red headed tricolors.

They will be going to the vet on Thursday, and we are eager to hear how they are doing and if they are boys or girls.

We told our two boys that we'll be getting one of these puppies!

Now the next big question will be ...Boy or Girl? What has been your experience with each? I have heard that girls tend to be very bossy and boys are snuggle bunnies! Has this been your experience? If you picked a snuggler, did it continue to be one as it matured? Also, do you think it is a gender related thing, or more just an individual dog thing?

Thanks! I have really enjoyed reading the posts and questions that this group does, and have learned so much!

We have both male and female corgis and they are all snugglers. My experience working as a vet assistant has been that a pet's personality (dog/cat - male/female) has much more to do with their personality and how they are raised. Gender really doesn't play much into their personality.

I don't know if gender really has anything to do with which is better for what... but my husband said Sadie (our little girl) just picked things up quicker all around.... and Rolo (our little boy).... is a mess.

His attention span is microscopic....

"Sit...okay... stay...ok ok...what? What did you say? Food? Do I get food... LOOK... a fluff ball... I'm going to chase that... oops. Pee. Sorry. What did you say? Huh? WHo are you again? Food. Do I like food? ... OH GOD I love cheese...? Time to go out? What's out? What's that sound? Doorbell!!!!! ROWF ROWF ROWF.... who are you again? Oh look you have food!"

At the same age, Sadie was learning tricks, fully house-trained and a lot more focused. Her problem solving skills seemed more refined, too. If she got her leash wrapped around something, she figured out that she needed to retrace her steps. Not Rolo... he figured faster was better and proceeds to wrap himself up like a tetherball, then when he can't get any tighter around the tree, tries to eat the bark!

Don't get me wrong... I love my little spaz baby... but I do hope he's not really as stupid as he acts...and that he eventually grows out of it.

Maybe it's like humans... girls mature faster?

Our next corgi will definitely be a girl.

My boyfriend and I knew from the start we wanted a tri color boy, so when the breeder told us to come choose one (She had 11 in the litter!) we had it narrowed down significantly already. But then I met one of the red and white girls and absolutely fell in love with her. I've never had a female pet - for some reason my dad had instilled in me that you should always get boys - but after playing with her for a few minutes, I just KNEW she was the one. Josh still has his heart set on the boy, so now we're getting them both! I would encourage you to take your boys when the puppies are a bit older and just allow them to spend some time with all of the pups. They will most likely bond with some more than others. Just go with what feels right!

Congrats!! How exciting for you. You will get a hundred different opinions regarding a male vs. a female. In my opinoin, the sex does not determine the dogs personality or character. I would go in with an open mind, and choose the puppy that speaks to your heart. Don't look only at one sex because you could miss out on the perfect puppy for your family. A note about what you have heard so far.... Emmy is a VERY snuggly dog, so it's not only the boys that like to cuddle. Good Luck!! :-)
