I'm rounding out my first week with Grover. He is the best! He has tons of energy right now and will play and play until he can barely keep his eyes open. He loves sleeping on the tile in the kitchen. He has only had ONE accident in the house!! And NO poo accidents! How great is that? The one accident was when my husband and I were play dancing in the living room...he literally peed ALL over the place. It looked like he was trying to spell his name in the carpet with pee. So Grover does not like my dancing skills. It totally freaked him out. He does fine in his crate. The first couple of nights he woke up at 3am and wanted to go out to potty, but the last few nights he has slept through the entire night. Awesome, right?
The only thing that is nuts is that he is eating me up!! And my husband and the cat and the carpet and the chairs and everything else he can get his teeth on. He is nipping A LOT during play. And it HURTS. I have done the "Ouch!" and ignore thing and I think he is getting it. Maybe. I still have lots of battle wounds on my hands. I just wonder when this will end? I know he's teething because when I give him his frozen chew toy, he calms down SO much. What else can I do? When will the teething part be over? Any advice on that would be fab!
Over all, my first week of puppy ownership has been excellent. Today is a lovely, sunny day and I'll be spending it in the yard with the Grovester! :)

Sounds like Grover is doing great so far! Great job with the potty training (as long as you go in the other room to dance.)

Keep doing the "Ouch!" and ignore him until he settles...over and over and over. It doesn't seem like it's working (I know) but he will start nipping more softly and then stop nipping you completely if you stay consistent and never let him think "it's cute". Make sure he has lots of textures and variety in toys (soft, hard, rubber, fabric, rope). When he puts his mouth on something he's not supposed to have, tell him "no", and give him a toy he is allowed to chew on.

He will start losing teeth at 4 months, losing all his puppy teeth by 6 months, then getting his adult molars by 7 months. At 10 months, his teeth should be all set solidly in his jaw.

Don't worry...he will quit nipping you way before he finishes teething!
