Hey everyone! Today is Grover's birthday! He is an awesome two years old! (As a side note, his yucky eye is SO much better today, just in time for birthday fun!) We didn't do a whole lot. He got a new toy and his friend, Pablo the Pit Bull came to visit for the night. My best friend is Pablo's Mom and Grover and Pablo play together like two peas in a rotten pod! They are great together! Pablo isn't a year old yet, so he's still a pup and he totally wears Grove out! Grover got some special…

Well, I had posted in the forum about Grover's limp and his recent diagnosis. I just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate everyone's advice and support!
I think I'm still pretty heart broken to hear that he has dysplasia, but don't think I'll be gettin over that anytime soon.
But I do really appreciate being able to come here and get the advice and encouragement! He's my best little friend and I love him SO much. I don't think many of the people in my life really have this…

Well, I've just learned a very valuable lesson about what will happen if Grover hasn't had a walk and I'm distracted. I was sitting on the coach playing Guitar Hero. Yes I'm 26 and was pumped to get Guitar Hero for X-Mas...I'm a dork. Grover was whiney because he wanted his evening walk and I was just too damned distracted...one minute he's chewing his Nyla, the next...my cell phone. He certainly got the walk once I realized my error...but not before he had a time out in his crate!!
My…

Over the weekend, my husband and I took our pup to a family reunion about 3 hours from home. I thought that it's be fun for Grover because we have lots of kids in my family (I have a HUGE family, my mother has 12 brothers and sisters) and most all of my family loves dogs!
The 3 hour drive down proved to be a bit of a challenge. We have never really traveled that far with Grover. He doesn't really enjoy riding in the car very much, he whines and tries to get out of his seat belt harness and…

Grover's first day in Intermediate class was tonight and....well....it did not go well. There were only 2 other dogs in the class and they have all been in several classes and are much older than Grover (Grove is 8 months). So, of course, I wasn't comparing him to them. But, even still, it was a rough class. He did wonderful in Beginner Obediance class. He was a star. But we've had a couple of months off and he just acted like a stink pot tonight.
First of all, we practiced sit-stay's and…

Hey everyone, I wanted to post a little update on the goings-on with our little man.
First off, Grover is in his third week of obedience training classes. So far we have learned an awesome sit, a reluctant down and a work-in-progress stay. He's doing great on the leash. Our walks are easy and fun now that he's started to get into them. At first when started the daily double of walks, he was so reluctant to go. But now he goes to the door when I grab the leash! One of the great parts about…

Hey everyone! I'm here again asking for advice. I volunteered to help a friend out and keep her puppy for her while she was on vacation this week. Actually, I'm using the term "volunteer" loosely. I didn't really volunteer so much as get roped into this task, but hey...I should learn to say no, so it's not my friend's fault really.
The pup is an 8 week old Tea Cup Chihuahua and Shih Tsu mix. They got her only a couple of weeks ago (barely 6 weeks old) and apparently she has not had to be…

I had to brag a little guys! First off, Grover has actually been doing a great job with potty training. He has had maybe 6 accidents in the house since we got him at 10 weeks old, he's now 16 weeks old. So that's awesome! And really only two of those accidents were full on, "here I go, I'm peeing" accidents, the others were "I'm so excited! I'm peeing!!" accidents.
But through it all, he's really just been trip trained. We take him out really frequently, especially since I'm having some…

So, I took Grover out on the town for the first time today. He is 14 weeks old, so I thought I had better start socializing him now! I'm feeling a little late in the game, getting him out to do stuff. But this is the first weekend it has worked out to go do some fun stuff.
We went to SpringFest, which is a local festival with lots of food and booths and music and stuff. It is a lot of fun, but this is the first year I've had a little tag-a-long buddy to take with me!
He was a hit!!…

I'm rounding out my first week with Grover. He is the best! He has tons of energy right now and will play and play until he can barely keep his eyes open. He loves sleeping on the tile in the kitchen. He has only had ONE accident in the house!! And NO poo accidents! How great is that? The one accident was when my husband and I were play dancing in the living room...he literally peed ALL over the place. It looked like he was trying to spell his name in the carpet with pee. So Grover does not…

I just wanted to share! We brought our new boy home today! He is 11 weeks old and I can't believe how big he is already. I haven't weighed him yet, but I'd never seen a corgi pup in real life and I was so surprise at how big he is already! I'll post pictures later on because I have a huge paper due on Tuesday! (Not the best time to bring a new pup home, but I don't think there is ever a good time!). Fortunately, right now...knock on wood...he is an angel! So good!! We named him Grover, by the…
