So, I took Grover out on the town for the first time today. He is 14 weeks old, so I thought I had better start socializing him now! I'm feeling a little late in the game, getting him out to do stuff. But this is the first weekend it has worked out to go do some fun stuff.
We went to SpringFest, which is a local festival with lots of food and booths and music and stuff. It is a lot of fun, but this is the first year I've had a little tag-a-long buddy to take with me!
He was a hit!! Everyone wanted to stop us and pet him! I was so proud! I couldn't take him two feet without someone asking what kind of dog he was or commenting on how cute he is! And he was so good. He did pee a little a few times when he got excited about being pet, but overall he was a little prince. He didn't nip at all, which he does ALL the time at home. He even walked on his leash wonderfully. However, he would get distracted and stop, like, every five seconds, but, hey, I can't complain, right?
We were out for about 3 hours, which I think was too long. But he was a trooper. There were lots of other dogs there too. Some BIG ones, like Great Danes and St. Bernard's but he didn't seem to let it phase him. He was exhausted by the last half an hour, but my niece (a 3yr old angel!) wanted to get ice cream and get her face painted, so we toughed it out. I carried him a lot, just because there were so many people and I was afraid he'd get stepped on. He slept the entire way home and he is totally KONKED out right now. But I think he had a great time!
I'm SO PROUD!! :)
Tell me about your first trips out! Do you get stopped constantly with questions about what kind of dog you have?
Share!! :)
