My thanks to everyone for your helpful and caring advice. I gave Howie the kitchen, with a clear view baby gate seperating him from the other dogs when I am gone, feeding him, or when we have company. I wanted him to still be able to see out at everything but know he is safe. Get this, when I removed the gate (when I was home) he would come out and visit but he kept going back in there. It was obvious he felt safe when away from the other playful lab and westie. Last night the kids went in one at a time and set with him, played tug a war with him, and just pet him alot. When I put the others out and gave him the house, he followed my son everywhere! If Josh closed a door Howie waited outside until he came out, he's so loyal!

Howie eats Hill's ID, it is the only food that has stopped the runny stools. When we got him he was 17 lbs, I've been giving him 6 meals a day per my vet, and now he is at 24 lbs but still looks thin. A neighbor who had a Corgi said he is very large for a Corgi, this is because he was never fixed until I took him in; my vet said it might calm him some, so I fixed him.

I'm hoping to find out how much a large three year old male Corgi should weigh, I can still slightly see Howies' ribs. My vet says he's fine at 24 but he doesn't look like other Corgis.

Thanks Again to everyone!

How wonderful!!!! Gate's are great...my house is full of them! Hopefully you can take him off of Hill's ID after awhile and get him on a better food (there's many discussions on here about food:)

My male is not neutered and he weighs 28-29 #'s and is very active. Staying on the lighter side is better! How tall(at the shoulders) and long is he?

Any chance you could post a picture? You shouldn't be able to see his ribs at a healthy weight, but you should definitely be able to feel them easily. According to the breed standard I think the ideal weight for a male is around 27 lbs, but this can really vary depending on the dog.

Sounds like he will feel right at home in no time! Kudos to you!

What a lucky dog, so glad it's working out well.  As for weight, it really should matter more how he looks versus an actual number, and the breeders on this site can tell you what you should see/feel.  My Bertie, who's 6, weights around 33, and has a nice slim waist and I can feel ribs under a nice layer of muscle, so I think he's a good weight.  My Ethel weighs 25, but she looks a little chubby and could probably loose a couple of pounds to achieve the same nice waist etc. that Bertie has.
