For those in the Frederick, MD area I want to highly recommend Happy Hounds Lodge for boarding or daycare. I had a 10 day trip to the UK and was very stressed about how Monty would do away from me that long. I know that if he is distracted by other dogs he doesn't notice my absence as much so I wanted somewhere he was free to roam with other dogs as he is very socialized. He is also used to sleeping in my bed at night and I couldn't picture him in a crate/pen at night for that long. I found the answer to my prayers. Happy Hounds is run by a mom and her two adult daughters out of their country home. The house is all about the dogs and they have free reign (within reason-ie if dogs do get along they have gates everywhere to keep them separated for saftey). They have several large fenced areas with woods for the dogs to frolic, a back deck to sun and at night they get to sleep where comfy-and yes Monty got to sleep in a bed.
On top of this they will prepare his food to his spoiled expectations and even added an extra bonus of some boiled meat (his favorite) all at no extra charge and with love and care.
For the first time while on travel away from my baby I wasn't worried about him. In fact I stopped calling to check on him after three days because he sounded like he was having way too much fun! We are home now and he is sleeping off his vacation but I am so excited to have a safe, friendly place to leave my baby while away.
PS. If anyone does end up going there please let them know Monty, the Corgi sent you. He gets an extra treat for referrals!!
