Another way my life revolves around my Corgi...

So I broke my foot in September and unfortunately developed a chronic condition that affects the nerves. I went to a new doctor today to try a new treatment and she wants me to try Cymbalta. The first thing I said was "Oh cool, that is the Corgi drug". The look on her face made me realize that I might sound a little crazy so I had to explain I have a Corgi and that he looks just like the dog on the Cymbalta commercial. I think she still had questions about my sanity but laughed it off and moved… Continue

Happy for the Cold!

Not sure if anyone else's corgi has this issue but Monty has just blown his winter coat thanks to a nice warm fall. In Northern Virginia we had a few days of cold weather that excited the fuzz butt to no end and his beautiful coat came in nicely. Then it went away and the humans enjoyed a nice 3 week spell of 60 and 70 degree weather. Unfortunately this is too warm for Monty's winter coat and he has been shedding it all over the house for the past week. He is back to his trim Spring self just… Continue

New home. New Schedule

Monty and I are settling into our new home, a townhouse in northern virginia. It was a little crazy for Monty but he is definitely getting used to the new digs and my new roommate has showered him with lots of massages. We also have lots of new trails to explore.

We will also have a new schedule as I am now very close to work. Now three days a week instead of going to daycare while I am at the office he will be staying at home with lunch visits from me. I get to work from…

The Beach and Fleas

Monty and I just got back from Duck, NC and had a great time. He loved the beach and all the stairs at the beach house! He would attack the waves and frap about in the sand. He made lots of other doggie friends as Duck is very doggie friendly. Unfortunately we did have one issue. FLEAS! He is on Frontline and plays in the woods everyday with no problem but it seems the Southern sand fleas are immune and latched on to the poor guy. I went to the local dog store and got some neem spray and soap… Continue

Trials of owning a low-rider

Ah the joys of owning a low-riding Corgi! This morning, Monty and I went out for our morning walk before I had to leave for the auto shop to bring my car in for an alignment. All was good until we made the turn on our road and a piece of plastic bag began blowing past that little curious mouth. I guess it had something tasty on it because before the words "drop it" even began to form he looked up at me and swallowed the whole piece (about 4x6) in size.

Losing all Mommy cool, I… Continue

Awesome Lodging Experience

For those in the Frederick, MD area I want to highly recommend Happy Hounds Lodge for boarding or daycare. I had a 10 day trip to the UK and was very stressed about how Monty would do away from me that long. I know that if he is distracted by other dogs he doesn't notice my absence as much so I wanted somewhere he was free to roam with other dogs as he is very socialized. He is also used to sleeping in my bed at night and I couldn't picture him in a crate/pen at night for that long. I found the… Continue

Single Girl and her Corgi

So this post is to all the single people out there. I am just newly single and kept my baby, Monty in the breakup. I am not ready to date yet but I am starting to realize that I might have a problem when I do. Monty is a total momma's boy and is getting more and more protective of me. I am going to work on this with a behaviorist because if there is another man in the house (friend, landlord) and talking to me he starts barking like mad. He is also protective of me with other dogs. We were at a… Continue

Does he know how much he means to me?

So in the past couple of months my life has had some drastic changes. Monty's daddy and I broke up after two years and surviving a life threatening infection that almost took his life. In celebration of his recovery we got Monty our year and half year old Corgi who is the light of my life. I have had to find a place to live in a short amount of time but keeping in mind always the needs of Monty I finally found a wonderful place in Frederick, MD that even has a big yard on a quiet street. The… Continue

Change in living arrangements...advice welcome

Hi all,

I don't blog much but will likely start doing it more now that I am single again. My boyfriend and I have decided to part ways as we don't want the same thing right now. Unfortunately this means I need to find a new place to live. I want to stay in the DC area but the only area I can really afford that is part country/part city is Frederick, MD. I tried looking for a townhouse but my price range means there is not a lot available that allows pets. I still have hope but might have… Continue

My First Blog-Holiday Party Dilemma!

This is my very first blog but I have enjoyed reading them and wanted to give it a try. Monty, our 11-month old Pem is our furbaby and we do everything with him. We are lucky as he loves to ride in the car, go hiking, working outside and even shopping (we know almost every dog store in the metro DC area!) We are also lucky there are so many opportunities available in our area to keep him entertained and with us. He is also spoiled in that he is rarely left in his crate more than a couple of… Continue
