Monty and I just got back from Duck, NC and had a great time. He loved the beach and all the stairs at the beach house! He would attack the waves and frap about in the sand. He made lots of other doggie friends as Duck is very doggie friendly. Unfortunately we did have one issue. FLEAS! He is on Frontline and plays in the woods everyday with no problem but it seems the Southern sand fleas are immune and latched on to the poor guy. I went to the local dog store and got some neem spray and soap then to the vets on Monday for Capstar. The Capstar worked right away and I gave him a second dose a few days later. I thought we had beat them until we got home and found him crawling with them again! Ugh. Well another dose of capstar and a flea buster shampoo and I think we are good-I hope. He is due for Frontline on Wednesday again and i hope it is one souvenir we don't see again.

Thanks guys for the tips. The vet mentioned comfortis too but was very expensive so I went with Capstar hoping this problem won't continue now that we are not near the beach. We have a bigger problem in Maryland with ticks which isn't covered by these two so for now will stick with Frontline. I think the next time I head South or near a beach I will stock up on both and be prepared for the fleas.

We live in a North Carolina forest with ticks and fleas everywhere. We use Revolution and never see a flea or tick.

That's my combo too, capstar and comfortis, capstar covers the instant kill, comfortis take care of the eggs and break the cycle. I only use the combo when all things fail, so may be once a year only.

We use Capstar (miracle stuff!) but we have switched from Frontline, Advantage etc (absolutely useless here in Florida) to Comfortis. It works immediately like Capstar and keeps working for 30 days!

Sounds like fun(well, except the fleas part). Our family is actually heading to Duck for the 4th of July. We're very excited. The pups will be staying home in CO, though I'm sure they'd love the beach.
