I had an awful bad day. My job gets to me sometimes and the next thing I know I'm crying because I'm so stressed out and freaking out over deadlines and such. I don't have a gym close enough to get this out of me--hence tears.

Then I get way laid by two trains putting me even further behind from getting home. I just wanted to go home and take a bath and eat some food--maybe a beer too.

I get home and Freya was eating in her kennel, my boyfriend fed the dogs, so I at least didn't have to worry about that. When she was done eating, I finally got my chance to greet my puppy.

I usually pick her up and hug her and kiss her on the head. This time, she struggled in my arms a bit and put her paws on both of my shoulders and looked me in the face before licking me a few times. She has never done that before. I was kind of surprised by that actually. Then our Weim, Cloud, gave me the weird neck hug.

When I finally got back into good spirits, she would have nothing to do with me. She would sit at least a foot away from me. She would come by and check up on me and sit on the couch for a few seconds before wanting to go back to the floor.

She is such a special puppy.

i have to say that i think she definitely felt what you were feeling...in her own way at least. our dog gets so panicky and confused when my son is crying--maybe she just doesnt know what to do, but we like to think that she's worried for him because he's upset. maybe freya wasn't sure if you were "ready" for cuddling since you had come home a bit stressed. dogs are pretty special creatures:)

As she gets older, she will change. Don't read any more into it than it is - just may be she felt that way that day. It was not anything about you. If you have children please forgive the next comment
kids/dogs don't perceive a situation as we would like for them to see it! She may think she was giving you all her love - but just in a new way. Remember no matter what -you are her mama!

That is so cute! My puppy knows when I have a bad day or I am sick. She always knows when I need kisses or snuggles. They really are special friends.

Aww, dogs can really be the best medicine for a terrible day! Whenever I'm sick, it seems that Grover knows that Mommy is down and out and will chill and snuggle instead of being his total nut-balls self! They are such sweet creatures! Sorry you had a crappy day!
