Lucy and I have been members of our local Bark Park since it opened last spring. It has been almost 3 months since we have run into another dog. Every time we go there is no one in sight. I can't figure out if we are going at the wrong times or if dog parks are only busy when it's nice out? It's kind of sad. Lucy and I will jog the perimeter but the drive out there just isn't worth it anymore. The park district is most likely going to ask us to renew in the spring but I don't know if it's a good idea...

I think you should renew, maybe in spring more owners will take the dogs. Why don't you take the initiative and invite some of your friends with dogs to go and meet you at a certain time? Check on the web to see if there are any "Meetups" close to your area, join them and recommend the park to them. Anyway, good luck! Hopefully many owners New Year's Resolution will include: "to take my dog more frequently to the Dog Park".

I wish we had a dog park here. My dogs need a lot more excercise and interaction then what they get in the back yard. That would be wonderful.

That's too bad! The dog parks around us are all free and maintained by the city. They are gated and I've never been to the park when there hasn't been several other dogs. Especially if you are paying for it, that's a bummer that there are no other dogs there. In my opinion, that's one of the best reasons to go... socialization! Plus, the exercise they get chasing each other around the park and wrestling is wonderful. For us, this time of year is rough, because I can't get to the dog park after work before it gets too dark and there aren't any lights. Maybe part of the reason your dog park isn't frequented is because people have to pay to go. It would be wonderful if you could find one close to you that is free and popular with dogowners!

Hmm that sucks! Gibson and I just cheat and walk off leash around this lake in town and through the woods behind it. No real dog interactions though :(

Several groups are working to get a dog park in our area. There is one about 30 miles from us. The park where they are going to put ours is a very busy one. Folks are out there all the time walking their dogs. Hopefully, it will be a good park.

I don't know of a dog park in my area where anyone can take their dog and let them interact w/one another. The public parks but even a lot of them are no dogs allowed.
