I have a guy adding on to my deck, he's a friend of a friend and completely trustworthy so he works here at the house during the day while I'm at work. My neighbor, who loves my dogs as much as I do, offered very kindly to come over and let the dogs out if I needed to crate them. I have a doggie door and my two usually have the run of the house and back yard while I'm at work. My construction guy said I was welcome to leave them loose if I wanted, it didn't bother him at all.
I got home a little earlier than usual today and when I entered the back gate instead of the front door I found Goldy laying about two feet from said construction guy with her head resting on one of his towels.
Bear was on the deck having a drink of water that construction guy had gotten from the kitchen and filled for them and put out back - even though they have a perfectly good water dish in the house on the cool tile.
I just knew that I was going to hear horror stories about Bear stealing his screwdrivers and nails while construction guy chased him around the yard and begged for his belongings back as Goldy nipped at his heels.
When I asked how it went with the dogs loose, he replied, "I hardly knew they were here - the little tan one (Goldy) just stays near me and keeps an eye on things and the bigger one (Bear) likes to check on things about once an hour and then heads back inside. This barking they're doing now is the first I've heard out of them all day. Those are some pretty great little dogs you've got there."
My heard swelled with pride.
