New Boyfriend Afraid of Dogs.....What to do?

First, he doesn't "hate" dogs, he's just scared of them.  He's never lived in a home with a dog.

He hasn't been to my house yet - obviously.

Even when I tell him stories of how Bear lies nose to nose with me in the morning when I'm waking up, to speed up the process so he can get food of course - he tells me that I need to not let my dogs near my face.  And how it's dangerous and that they could really bite me and do some damage.

I have never…

Are they really THAT smart? Or is it instinct? Or is it coincidence?

Bear has always been my loyal keeper - no matter where I am, he is.  When the neighbor gives him a treat, he brings it into the house to "eat it with me."  When I stay up late, he stays in the living room with me until I head to bed.

Goldy has always been more independent and more of a loner.  She likes to go out and lie on the deck by herself, she likes to sit on the hill in the back yard and overlook her kingdom and at night, you can set your watch by her - she goes…

Dear Bear...

You're almost 3 years old and I firmly believe that your ears have NEVER stopped growing.

Hachiko - a dog's tale....brutal and beautiful....

.I just stumbled on this movie - I had heard the story and read about the statue, but wow.

I am not a crier - and I'm still blowing my nose an hour later.

God love the puppies!!

Two College Degrees - wasted.

Evidently Goldy drank the last of the water a few moments ago because as I sat here typing up a handout for school I hear Bear quietly bark.

I ignore it - assuming it's a request for tug of war.

A few moments later - BARK BARK!   I ignore - focusing on my work.

Then, BARK BARK BARK and walks over and headbutts MY LEG!

As I look up, he walks back over to his water bowl and BARK!

I thought I was a teacher, it…

A New Memory for 9/11...

Today is my 1st nephew's 1st birthday.  He was born on 9/11 last year and I always had a small fear that the horror of that day would forever cast a shadow over his birthday - but it doesn't.  He is an example of life moving on.

We had a party at my cousin's farm and Bear and Goldy were great with him and all of the other kids that showed up!  Bear fetched the Nerf football for the older kids when they missed the catch and even dropped it when asked.

My…

The Perfect Chair.....for Goldy

A few years ago I had some insane back issues and one of the things my doctor recommended was a zero gravity chair.  I shopped around and found "The Perfect Chair" - I cringed at the price $1200 for a CHAIR?!?!?!  That's insane!!!

But of course, one more bad night and I ended up back at the "Healthy Back Store" buying the damn thing.

Goldy has since decided that the perfect chair is the perfect place to relax…

This must be some other kind of dog in a Corgi costume!!!

Those of us with "real" corgis will KNOW that this must be some other breed of dog disguised as a Corgi - no self respecting Corgi would behave in such a way!!!  (I wish mine would)

My Obsession with Eye Boogers...

I cannot stand for my dogs to have eye boogers, it seriously drives me crazy!

Today, I'm getting some eye boogers off of Bear and of course I poke him right in the eye.

Here's to tonight's prayers that I didn't do any damage. :(

He seems fine right now, but I'll feel better once I check him in the morning and see nothing.

Usually they clean them off of each other, which I greatly appreciate, but Goldy seems to have been…

Being a Teacher is FUN!

This is not really corgi related, but I just want to share it.

As many of you know, it's testing time in every school across the country.  This time of year can be stressful for everyone, especially the students.  At my middle school we try to motivate the kids with positivity so they want to do well.  This year we made a video - based on the one that the Today show did a few months ago.

Not only was it fun to make, but the kids absolutely loved it - if you…

Corgis and the Carpenter

I have a guy adding on to my deck, he's a friend of a friend and completely trustworthy so he works here at the house during the day while I'm at work.  My neighbor, who loves my dogs as much as I do, offered very kindly to come over and let the dogs out if I needed to crate them.  I have a doggie door and my two usually have the run of the house and back yard while I'm at work.  My construction guy said I was welcome to leave them loose if I wanted, it didn't bother him at…

Corgi doing the butt drag on It's Me or The Dog tonight!

Family walking some out of control dogs - one lunges at a corgi walking the other direction on the sidewalk.

What does the corgi do?

Butt drag and look up at his owner of course!

Hopefully someone can get a screenshot of it.

Translation found - thanks Chewie!

This picture was on The Daily Corgi today and after I recovered from the tears of the image, I was dying to know what it said.  Is the dog okay?  Were they reunited?

Can someone translate the text?

Don't Walk Away Mad, Just Walk Away

Bear is shedding like CRAZY - notice the sheets and blankets covering my couch.  He hates to be brushed, yet when I brush him he just complains like a child, but continues to stay within brushing reach.  It cracks me up - no one is holding or restraining him, or making him stay on the couch near the brush, yet he stays.  Silly corgis.

These things I know to be true...

1.  My corgis will NEVER blow their coat at the same time.  This would make my life entirely too easy.  Instead, Bear will shed now, for the next three weeks, THEN Goldy will begin her molting.  MUCH better to drag it out over two months.

2.  Although raised in my home, Goldy will forever be an outside dog.  She goes outside to lay in the grass/snow/mud whenever she can.  Today I hadn't heard from her in a bit and went to check on her...she had made herself a little bed in…

But Mom, I'M THE BABY!!!!

My 5 month old nephew came to visit today.  The dogs did great with him (it was their first meeting with the handsome Truman).  Bear thought he was the tastiest thing he has licked in years.  Goldy let him grab her fur and try to suck on her nose....but I think by the end of the day Goldy's jealousy kicked in and she figured if she did what the baby did, she'd get all of the attention back...the proof is in the pictures....
