I am not always a Victoria Stillwell fan but happened to have it on today and she said something so true I had to repeat it. "Your dog is fat because you overfeed it" So simple but hard to hear since our corgis are so good at playing the starving puppy!

Just wanted to add that I was doing some training with mine last night, and so they each only got 1/4 cup of kibble and some green beans for dinner! When we add treats, we reduce meal size. The exception is agility training; if Jack is running for an hour, I figure he could use the extra calories. Same with hiking.

Over fed and under exercised is my thought...I am a toughy....Wynn has gained a pound or 2 occasionally and then has to cut back....poor starving boy! Treats don't help either!

My cat is fat because I overfeed her! Haha. Actually she's not fat, but she is overweight. My last cat was free-fed and I'm struggling to find an appropriate ration for this one, who really enjoys eating just a little too much.

She is so right! I do not buy into that "starving puppy" role playing, either. It's our responsibility as pet parents to keep our little ones as healthy & happy as possible.
