So it happened, we drove for 4 hours and picked up our precious baby. The breeder crate trained him, so he was totally fine while driving. In fact, he went to sleep as soon as we put him there. He's great with potty training besides couple of accidents at home right before my eyes (it's very hard to tell when he's going as he doesn't change his position and does it in seconds). I usually let him have some water in the morning, then take him outside to relieve himself.
He hasn't been eating very well in mornings, maybe it's too early for him. The breeder said he's used to getting up at 7 and we're usually gone to work by then. He eats a lot at night though, yesterday he chowed down the entire cup of his food in minutes.
His favorite spot to sleep or to chill is under the futon in the living room. We usually leave him alone when he's there, and there's nothing to chew on or destroy, also no room for him to go potty. By the way, he sleeps A LOT which is totally fine with me.
Very barky and demanding. Barks when he wants attention, food, toy, etc. Hates the slicker brush, but I try to introduce it along with lots of treats.
My coworker, labrador breeder said that he's very confident, which is good and bad at the same time. Good because he is fearless and we don't need to be afraid of overcorrecting him. Bad because tries to be dominant and test us all the time. He is absolutely sure the everything in the world belongs to him and is very confused when he can't get/go/eat/chew on whatever he wants.
It's funny because I spent so much time reading about dogs and puppies and tried to make sure I'd get a submissive one, easy to train and eager to please. But at the end I fell in love with Shiro's face and in spite of the breeders recommendations to take his brother I picked him. Although I knew he was gonna be a handful his confidence and independence got me. I guess I just like challenge :)
Anyways, Shiro is going to puppy kindergarten class in 2 weeks, so he'll learn to behave himself. I'm not saying he's a bad or abusive dog; in fact, he loves to meet new people and dogs, and is very friendly and a star wherever we go. He just gets barky when playing and upset if he doesn't get what he wants.
