So about 3 hours ago I put a flea treatment on Buddy. I know they are not supposed to get bathed for a few days after the treatment, but what about unexpected heavy rain? I honestly didn't even consider rain, but living on the east coast means dealing with unexpected thunderstorms all summer long.

Did I just throw money down the toilet, so to speak?

Now the next hurdle is getting him to go #2 outside in the rain.... He hasn't had an accident in the house in months, yet I just caught him assuming the position in my hallway. I tried to get him to go outside, and he just looked at me like I was crazy. I picked him up and took him outside myself, no dice, although now I have a stinky corgi running around trying to rub himself on everything!

If you used something like Frontline or Advantage, and applied it properly to the skin, it should be fine. Advantix even remains effective after swimming. As for pooping, we generally walk our dogs which gets them going in just a minute or two. Many are picky about location and some dogs hate to defecate on their own property and will try to hold it til they just can't hold it any more, which can lead to accidents. We usually take ours across the road (which is not a residence) and clean up with bags. We do go through bags in a hurry, but the dogs go quickly.

I work at a vet office and the flea treatment is usually absorbed into their skin by 2 hours. try a waterproof type like frontline. ideally you should wait 24 hours before he gets wet but it should work if it's less time. good luck

If you separate the coat and applied deep inside, it won't run off unless buddy was submerged and swam :)
Part of the joy of living in FL is that we get the afternoon showers, invest in a good gore-tex jacket for yourself, it's waterproof and breathable, it will not make you sweat and sticky like the cheap vinyl jacket. Always leash buddy and stand in the rain with him. Walk also promote BM. Be thankful that you don't need to do it in a CAT 2 hurricane.

I dunno about he flea treatment but Orion is very sensitive to where he poops. He only likes to go in mulch and he has to go up on the hill and find a perfect spot so it's a pain even not in the rain but when it does rain I'll have to follow him around with an umbrella for 30 minutes until he goes. Laika isn't picky about where she poops, thank god

Time to get the umbrella!

not sure about the flea medicine, i think it would depend on how much soaked into his skin. i don't think i would treat again right away though, then it may end up too much.
as for the potty in the rain - are there any trees near by? ella hates the rain, but will go under a tree or other shelter if she needs to. could try that.
