When I was at the vet the other day, I asked him if Scarlet would need to wear the cone around her neck. The vet said that Welsh Corgis really can't wear the cones: They catch on the floor when the dog walks because they're so close to the ground!

I thought that was hilarious...

He couldn't get to his toy...I felt so bad for those couple days. It really didn't help much either, cause he figured out how to scratch himself down there with his front paw.

Hahaha I felt like such a bad mommy the moment the vet put it on Roxi and I cracked up. He smiled at me and said everyone laughs so no worries.

Poor dogs look so ridiculous in em!

They can wear cones. They just don't do it well!

I've used the blow-up collar with success as well, A bit pricey but much much better than the cone.

Our vet suggested it. Poor Kirby...it was so sad to see him try to drink. Also, when he would hop in his crate, sometimes it would catch on the top and stop him in his tracks! We ended up getting him a soft version. It worked pretty well, but he could get around it to lick his wounds. I haven't see the blow up ones...sounds like a good idea!

What is hilarious is that most vets still equip our recently altered Corgis with the cone and expect that it will work. It is pretty funny...but the poor Corgi looks so pathetic.

I can't tell you how many times Griffyn jack-knifed when trying to wear the cone the vet gave him. He would be walking along and the the cone would catch on the floor and up came his bottom-half off the floor. We went to Petco and bought him one of those blow-up collars---worked wonders for him.
