Gandalf

Even though it's only been 2 months since he became ill, it seems so long ago that this particular journey began. Everything is still going well for our 'old man', Gandalf. We chose the chemo option for his cardiac tumor. A treatment every 3 weeks which he has tolerated so well. No side effects or complications. Before his third session last week they discovered that the tumor has shrunk dramatically. So much that it was difficult for them to find it! To see him chasing around and regaining some of the weight he lost is truly wonderful. We don't know how long it will last but we're very grateful to have extra time with him. I know all of the thoughts and prayers that have come our way have helped. Thank you all so much.

Sadly, my cat Alice got so sick from the chemo after just one dose that we elected to put her down; however that is not the usual outcome. I hope Gandalf has several happy years left and that his treatment continues to keep his cancer at bay.
