Today was the day I took Gromit to the vet. The contract hit on his boy parts had come up due. He came through the surgery just fine but as you can tell from the photo above, he wasn't quite tuned into the world yet when we got him home. In due course he got to feeling a bit better as the meds wore off. The only thing that seems to have really bothered him was finding next to nothing in his food dish at dinner time tonight. Truly a Corgi's worst nightmare! Limited food and water until tomorrow, pal. Sorry!

Gromit, you are adorable, even when groggy. All the best to feeling your full self soon! PS I will make you some cream scones if you are hungry.

PS Gromit you'll be up and running before you know it! Joey, Katie, Hank and Bevy Lou all send their sympathies too.

Scott had to come outside and tell me about the picture of Gromit. This picture speaks a thousand words...glad you put your name on it, Doug. A perfect "I'm sorry" picture for a Hallmark card. I look at his pic and want to cry.

G'morning, Corgi friends. Gromit came to me late last night and asked for ice cream for his throat. I told him "Nice try but it wasn't your tonsils that were taken out." I offered him an ice pack for his other end and he just walked away muttering in Welsh under his breath "Mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn llyswennod." He always mutters in Welsh when he's upset just because he knows I don't speak it.

Gromit's doing fine this morning and was doing the happy dance when he saw a reasonable amount of food in his bowl. He's trying to play and generally be himself so the challenge now will be to keep him under control for a few more days. They are such a delight when they play and run around and act like Corgis, it's tough not let him and our poor wiener dog is equally confused as to why they cannot play.

Getting dogs spayed/neutered is the best thing for them and getting Gromit fixed was never in doubt, but it is difficult not to have that thought that "This dog is so special the world deserves more of them." But I am reminded of the story of the very smart but ugly man who married a beautiful but not smart woman so they could produce beautiful, smart, children. They got ugly, dumb kids. I'm happy to leave genetics to the dedicated Corgi breeders.

Did anyone get the license plate of that truck? Poor little guy...that is the most pathetic photo I have ever seen!

That is so the "You're gonna get me the BIG bully stick from the store, buddy!" look. Well done, Gromit. Heal up pal.
