Ok so im starting to think my Aunt's Golden Retriever and her pugs are a bad influence on Ace.. they arent very well trained and the oldest pug is sorta behaived but she barks at nothing...

Ok so this is why i say this... Ace never used to be scared of big dogs.. he never used to growl at other dogs... I know he only growls cuz he wants to tell others he is there... but people think he is a mean dog and the family and I know he isnt... he loves EVERYONE.. especially babies~ (moms friend has a 3 month old foster baby and ace just adoooores him)
but we took him into Petsmart the otherday because we took my niece home and it was there lol
and he growled and growled and growled.. but once he was allowed near a dog he was ok... I just dont want people to think he is a mean dog because he isnt..
Mom thinks he is resource guarding me because he doesnt act that way when im at work... He barks but thats it..
I wish i could take him more places but .. there is only our local petshop that allows dogs inside.. and i dont go there often because i dont have the money LOL

I would take him to the dog park but there is never any dogs there when we go... so im not sure what to do...

He is fine with dogs his size but big dogs intimidate him.. which is weird since he was raised with Scrappy... but since Scrappy moved out with my brother Ace has no big dogs to play with anymore Since well Buffy is almost 15 and she doesnt like to play with him..

I dont know what to do... can anyone give me any ideas?

I would love to do obediance Class but i live in a small town and would have to commute to the big city... which is easier said then done since i only have my learning permit... (to scared to go in and get license) so i have to rely on others to take me places right now... and the local transit doesnt allow dogs on them unless service animals.. so that makes it hard to commute that way..

I think part of the problem is my Aunts Golden is Aggresive with him.. not to mention he had a bad experience with a german shephard... i would love to take him to puppy play time but we dont have anything like that... though I know there is a lady with a corgi here in town i can ask her if she wouldnt mind making corgi playdates lol

i have the EXACT  same problem with teddy. the only difference is he had two very bad experiences with other dogs. whenever he growls u need to say in a firm tone "NO" even a slight tug on the leash helps. if u can though if u see other dogs get him to focus on u and give him a treat whenever he dosnt growl. have him great the dog and be on one your way. i would defiantly socialize him more. after taking teddy to a puppy play time for 2months he loves to play with other dogs. he still growls when he sees them walk by but after i correct him he knows i am serious. but by letting him growl all the time isnt good. from now on every time he growls now i would correct him
