how can I train Chloe to clean up after herself?

I'd like Chloe to learn to pick up her toys and put them back in her basket. On the rare occasion when she does put them in the basket I make a big deal about it. I was not that succesful with my sons, but Chloe is more motivated by food.

What we've learned is that you have to be ready at any time to reward the behaviors you want. so you need to have treats in your pocket or in a pouch on your belt or whatever. So, when she puts a toy in the basket you give her a treat and praise her and you just keep doing it.

I wanted Leo to learn this as I think it is cute when they clean up the toys. I bought him a small basket and put the toys in and he liked getting them in and out of the basket..then one day he just chewed up the basket and it had to be thrown out. I am trying to find a more indestructable toy box that is still Corgi size. Most likely will have to have one custom made from wood.

if she can fetch you can try calling her to the basket when she has one in her mouth and tehn making a big deal ab it if she gets it even near the basket.
putting away toys... i just wish mine wouldnt hide them all over the house.
