Dixon Corgi Faire

I went to the annual Dixon Corgi Faire.I think this is the third time I have gone with Chloe.  I have never seen so many Corgis!  I entered Chloe is the Corgi Bowling contest, 3 plastic cups with treats underneath, the object of the game is to knock over cup and get treats.  She got third place in her group.  We will practice for next year.  I did enjoy talking to other Corgi people.  What was interesting is that the Corgis in grass area all decided to chase other non Corgi breed like a…

Is there a way to get a dog to not chase cats?

Chloe chases the cat Kudos.  I am so tired of it.  She mounts the cat.  Kudos the cat does not have front claws.  The "leave it" command is sometimes helpful, but at times not.  Does anyone have recommendations on how to deal with this?

canine agility, swimming,

Chloe had a private canine agility lesson at Performance Dogs in Action today. Nola wanted to see how she ran and see how she has progressed since her back injury. Chloe did great! She even went swimming in Nola's pond! I did not know Chloe was okay with the water and knew how to swim. I was so…

Singing to your Corgi What do you sing to them?

When I bathe Chloe I generally sing "baby baluga", "Shake , Shake, your booty but substitute corgi for booty, and my favorite things.  I go to a self service dog wash so I wonder if anyone hears me. I cannot be the only one who sings to their dog.

Complete Bed rest for two weeks!

We returned from the vet not too long ago.  What we thought was a hurt paw is not.  The reason Chloe yelps once in awhile is because she tweaked her back.  This could not have come at a worse time.  Chloe had her teeth cleaned last Friday so she was under sedation.  Friday I got the call that my dad was on his deathbed so my husband had to pick Chloe up.  Chloe was still somewhat under the influence and tried to jump up on her chair-a leather recliner love seat, well she missed and…

could this be complications from an IV?

Chloe had her teeth cleaned Friday.  The dentist put her on IV to sedate her.  Her teeth look great. The paw that had the IV is now painful to the touch.  I took her to the vet after she yelped and almost bit me.  I wonder if it could be something that happend with the IV?  She is not limping at all, but touch it and it is painful.  I got her some pain medication from the vet.  I am thinking of taking her back Friday if it does not improve.

Bird seed

I got a bell shaped birdseed for the birds in the backyard.  I thought it might amuse Chloe.  Today at agility the trainer noticed that Chloe's eyes did not seem as bright, and she was not as eager.  (  Chloe's favorite day is agility and LOVES it)

While we were there Chloe had a BM, and that had some birdseed in it.  I wonder if the seeds could make her have a real upset tummy? Chloe normally does not have a BM on walks or at agility practice.

I wonder if other…

How to pick out dog treats

I bet I am not the only Corgi parent that carefully checks where dog treats are made?  We went to Costco the other day and a free sample of this Cod dog treat that is supposed to help with shedding was being given out.  I asked where is it made, the worker kind of looked at me somewhat strange.  I passed because this treat is made in China. Chloe gets Candidae, no table scraps. When I purchase treats or look into them I check where they are made because melamie in pet food caused so many… Continue

Bissell pet spot bot

Has anyone had an experience that this Pet spot bot carpet cleaner discolors the carpet?  It is not an old carpet at all just a circle where the machine was. What a $139.00 mistake.  I have my carpts professionally cleaned and they do not turn out like that.  I bought the device because I caught Chloe doing her business in the living room.

Chloe got scared at dog park

I took chloe to the dog park today, it is separated between large and small, so we go to small side. Things were fine until a jack russell mix boy came-he , barred teeth, Chloe ran behind my legs, then sat down to me on the bench, she was very friendly to all the people. I probably did not help but I was nervous since seemed showed her teeth back. I could tell that she would want to play but when this dog came by she changed her mind. The owner's brother in law said that their dog has to run…

Calming an excited vocal dog

Chloe turned 2 June 18th. She is a very excited, vocal dog. We have been taking agility lessons for a few months and she is very excited while we are waiting our turn. She whines, barks when it is not her turn. She was this way in obediance too. It is embarrassing. I tell her quiet, say wait your turn, hold her mouth closed, stroke her and she will not shut up.

She obviously loves this event, but dealing with this is frustrating and annoying.

What have other…

It is Chloe's Birthday today!

Today my girl Chloe is 2 today. I cannot express how important she is to me. Since the animal food danger recalls I carefully look at all packages to see where the products were totmade and what they contain.

We are having a great time doing agility-totally out of character for me, but for the love of Chloe I do it.

Agility class one

Tuesday night we had our 1st class. Chloe seemed to pick it right up, me I need to practice.

The instructor has us reward with food. She recommends hot dogs.

Chloe is not food agressive with us, but with other dogs around she can be quite competive and not nice to her classmates.

How do you get the dog to not be food agressive to other dogs??

Corgi ownership if the owner is wheelchair bound

good friends of mine are getting a 6 month old female Pem today. One of the owners is wheelchair bound sometimes with a respirator. Long time Corgi fans, and previous Corgi owner, but he was healthier then.

I wonder is it okay to spray bitter Apple on the outside of plastic medical tubes so the dog will not chew on it?

I am excited for them because I know how much Rusty, now Chloe have enriched my life.

Any thoughts?
