So how long does everyone usually wait for a response before giving up on a breeder?
I found a breeder on puppyfind (after sifting through all the suspicious ones...) who looks decent, and might prove to be good depending on how my tons of questions are answered... But it's been almost a week and a half and still no response. I've emailed, called and left a message, and messaged through puppyfind. Still nothing yet.
I suppose it's possible that they're really busy... But I'm not sure how much longer I should wait. Though I admit I really would love one of her pups cuz the one I have my eyes on, has one blue eye, which I love. So I don't want to give up right away and then have her get back to me as I'm already getting a puppy elsewhere. :\ What to do indeed...

Jane: Wow, really? I don't think I'd ever wait that long for a breeder to reply, unless I KNEW for sure they were busy and I've talked to them before.
Natalia: That's good to hear. Can you give me her name? Just in case she has puppies right now and I find her. Haha.
My puppyfind.com breeder is an excellent communicator. I know of 2 other ppl on this site who got puppies from her with success.
Several I contacted took over a month to reply.
Ludi: That is true. I just have an odd love for things that are not "normal". Lol. Blue eyes, fluffies, tails, you name it. Haha. But if it's meant to be, then it will. I'll keep looking either way. :] Thanks.
Cindi: Actually I did try to go through the breed club. Unfortunately no one that I was referred to is breeding anytime soon. Then again, breed club doesn't guarantee anything about the breeder either. And even on puppyfind.com, I have found some breeders that are very reputable and still advertise on there. I will keep looking as well though. I would like to find a breeder that I can keep in contact as my puppy grows up.
Valerie & Maslow: Thank you for your comment. I'm glad to hear about people having good experiences with puppyfind.com. I'm sure not everyone that advertises on there is a good breeder, but it's good to know that those breeders do exist there. And I'll definitely take that advice about the pictures and video. Thanks again! :]
I got both my Corgis through puppyfind.com and both have been wonderful experiences with the breeder regarding contact and reputation. I would suggest you, if the breeder manages to reply, ask for pictures and a video.
I had just the opposite experience with my breeder. First, I was smart and went through the breed club to find a respectable, reputable breeder. I didn't even try the breeder sites and such. I interviewed each of the breeders I found. Both were prompt with their replies. The one I chose was planning puppies a few months out. The minute the bitch was bred, I heard from my breeder. She kept me informed the whole time. We made arrangements to travel to her to meet the pups and the breeder. We couldn't be more pleased. We are friends with our breeder and correspond regularly. If a breeder wasn't interested enough to correspond with me promptly and regularly, I wouldn't be interested.
I know that it would hurt to see what you envision as "the perfect puppy" go, just because his breeder did not follow up on your initial contact. But no matter what puppy you do end up with, it will end up turning out to be perfect anyway! Ace wasn't what I had set out as "dream" criteria - I wanted a b/w girl, and ended up with a blue boy - but he is my whole world now. :)
Thanks, Ludi. I guess I'll give it a little bit more time. From the past few times I've contacted breeders, usually they've gotten back to me within a few days, or never at all. So I'm hoping this won't turn into one of those never at all's. But I'll call a few more times at least. Hopefully if I annoy them enough with voicemails they'll get back to me to tell me to shut up. Hahahaha~
My breeder took what felt like an ETERNITY to contact me once we had exchanged initial information. Folks in the dog world tend to lead really busy lives - they're usually caring for multiple animals at once, in addition to working and then doing whatever side projects. I suggest calling a few more times before you definitively throw in the towel. If you have your heart set on this puppy, then you should pursue it until the dogged end. :)
