I got a status report this morning! Geena delivered 8 puppies (7 boys, 1 girl) on March 10th at 4pm. So far, so good. The pups are showing good signs of health and nursing well.
Welcome to the world, little peanuts!
Geena had a c-section at her vet's office and she's is recovering splendidly post delivery. And I'm told she's taking to motherhood like a corgi to peanut butter.
And as you can see in the picture above, Geena's idea of nursing needs a little modification. This picture just made me laugh. A corgi is a corgi is a corgi.
As for the little black peanuts, it's hard to imagine that one of those peanuts has the possibility of becoming my corgi. I can't wait for the peanuts to turn into corgis! Molly tells me that you can start to tell which corgis are fluffy around week 3. Also, as you can see all the peanuts are the same color. Not sure when you can first differentiate between a black headed tri from a red headed tri -- anyone in the corgi world know?
Can't wait for the next few weeks when this litter starts to reveal its true colors and true fluffage! Right now they are little black peanuts of mystery. Hoping that the good health continues for Geena and her freshly born peanuts.

Who is the Geena you were talking about a year ago? Is she Gwynnie's littermate?
Dante is Gwynnie's sire. Gwynnie's littermate was named Gina or Geena, and I thought she stayed here in the Puget Sound area. Gina is Al's dam, Cary Grant is Al's sire.
Is this going to be happening again?:( I would loooove to have one some day.. Especially a fluffy BHT. I mean, not right now because we have to move and get settled.. But in the near future? Or in a couple years? Ever? Pudge stole my heart haha..
If you get a BHT pup, one BHT likely comes from Haley's D'Artagnan (Dante), AL's Grandsire, Gwynnie's sire.
So... Geena is a RHT with MAYBE one BHT allele? If she carries the BHT allele, you could expect 25% BHT pups, but even if so, an 8-pup little with no BHTs is not terribly improbable.
Is Keepsake near you? If so, I'd encourage as many visits to the litter as you can. It's wonderful to see them. I've visited 2 of Carrie Hale's litters, a rewarding experience. A breeder is likely to be busy, but this is good socialization for the pups. It would be hard to remain detached, but try to remain open. It's difficult, perhaps impossible to decided who's best for you, and maybe unwise to try to answer that question.
Do you get to pick your pup? We did not. Carrie picked Al for us; we didn't know who we'd get until she delivered him. She claims to be able to make some judgements based on the pups' personalities.
do you want a fluffy? They are disturbingly cute, but there may be disadvantages: more combing, they may pick up more mud & water.
