I found a Corgi on my way home from work today...

... on my street.  she was just walking around.  She's old- her teeth are gross and she has various lumps on her body, and her eyes are starting to get cloudy.  But she's really sweet- I've let her into the house now and my 11 month old Corgi (Johann) is really excited to have this "guest."  I put up flyers in the neighborhood, called all the vet clinics, and even posted an ad online and a status on facebook.  I also took her to the vet to check for a microchip, but unfortunatley she doesn't have one.  She didn't have a collar on when I found her either :(  At least she looks well taken care of- I checked her for fleas before bringing her inside.  Her coat could use a brushing but she's not dirty.

Has anybody else found a Corgi before?  What did you do?

Also.. how much should I feed her if she ends up staying overnight?  I gave her 1/2 cup of Johann's food, which is Back to Basics turkey flavor.  I really hope her owners call soon because my parents already said I can't keep her :'(

I actually found my Corgi Jake in a similar fashion - I was driving home from dinner with my sister and he was wandering around by himself - no collar or ID of any kind.  I kept him in my (fenced) back yard that night and then took him to the humane society in the am.  Nobody claimed him after 5 days (no microchip, either) so at that point I decided to adopt him as my first ever dog.  We haven't looked back since - I can't imagine my life without this little lowrider around - he has enriched my life in ways I never thought possible.  On behalf of anyone who's had a pet escape, thank you for taking her in and giving her a safe haven until she could get back home.

So glad she is home safe and sound. You were right to pick her up, probably kept her from getting hit by a car!

I would check the lost and found in the local paper.  I don't know if Craig's list has such a thing but you might check.

Update:  "Stella" just went home!  Apparently the kids are home all day for xmas break and they left the gate unlocked.. whoops.. and the yard I found her in today was actually her own yard!  Nobody realized she was gone until their dad got home and inquired of her whereabouts.. luckily he saw the flyers I put up in the neighborhood and he came down and got her.  She's a 14 year old PWC who was a therapy dog until about two years ago. So glad she got home safe and sound :)
