My fiance is allergic to my lovable corgi, Simon. He's having bad asthma attacks when he comes over. I feel so bad because I'm not Simon's first home. I took him from a lady at work who was going through a divorce a year ago. Simon (whose name at the time was Clyde) was separated from his sister Bonnie.

I'm heartbroken that he might be leaving my home soon. My cocker spaniel Sophie is going to miss him as well. He really does love being outdoors, and I live in the city. I've been looking to buy a house with a back yard for the pups, but just can't do it in time.

Help! If you know how I can find a great (not just good) home for Simon, please let me know!

He has been tested. He has had a few major asthma attacks around Simon this year, but I've had Sophie a lot longer and he never flared up around her. :-(

I agree with Beth. Pet allergy usually means there are more allergies to more things and getting rid of the pet does not guarantee relief.

I might be interested, if I can convince my boyfriend to let me have a second dog. The only problem would be getting him fixed, which would definitely help with housebreaking. Shoot me an e-mail with some additional info, if you can. :)

Do a dog test....you have a cocker spaniel, too. How do you know it's the Corgi? Besides I have an air purifier that will keep the dog hair/dander out of the air...it works well for us since I have allergies and have 4 Corgis that sleep in the house every night and stay part time in the house during the day...our air purifier has worked miracles in our home :)

Where do you llive? I live in Iowa, so how to get him needs to be considered...

Oh yes darling! Work with the boyfriend first by all means! Make every attempt to keep your corgi! Furminator perhaps?

That must be very distressing! If I could offer one small bit of advice: has your fiance had allergy tests to verify that it is indeed the dog? I work with someone who was trying to rehome her pets because her son was allergic. Or so she thought, since he had symptoms typically at home but not elsewhere. As it turned out, he has a milk allergy (not a digestive intolerance; he actually gets hives and breathing difficulties from milk). Anyway, the point is that by observation they were quite confident they had pinpointed the source, but it turns out that was not the case at all. Perhaps Simon is bringing something in on his fur that is setting off your fiance. I'd hate to see you rehome him only to find the problem continues.

If you can, I would try doing things to manage the allergies first. I think talking to Sam is a good idea.

It may be harder to place him unneutered and not yet potty trained. Neutering may help with the potty training.

Talking to a Corgi rescue is a good idea or if you had a dog trainer you used you could ask them to keep an eye out for a home. I know when Finn was in puppy classes the trainer was always willing to take or help rehome dogs if it meant keeping them out of shelters.

He's almost 2 years old and weighed 20 pounds at the last vet visit. He's a skinny one because he runs so much!

Simon is black and white with golden eyebrows. Sophie, my cocker, is the dominant one between the two, so Simon is pretty comfortable around other dogs. It took a few days to introduce the two. He is super playful with her, and she can never keep up. He's always been in a multi-dog home. He's not fixed. I can't seem to house break him though.
